Dreams, and reality. (Tangent from scary dream thread)

Anyone ever felt pain in a dream, that wasn't reality sneaking into the dream?
Anyone ever smelled a bad smell that wasn't reality horning into the dream?
Anyone ever done a physical action, like punching, and woke up in mid swing, so to speak? (I one tried to crush a 8 inch long wasp in my dream, only to wake up with my fist impacting my pillow)
Anyone ever have TV in the background infiltrate a dream? (This too happened twice, while "The Wizard of Oz" was on in my hearing range.)

Once while I was asleep, The Simpsons was on, and I ws having a dream about going to see Spinal Tap, and my dream was full of quotes from that ep, of course it doesn't help that I've seen every ep a million times.

Sort of..i feel something, but it doesn't feel exactly like it should....akin to feeling an impact and soreness, but it's not exactly right, but i'm usually more focussed on what's happening rather than the intricisies(sp?) of it all.

Yeah my dreams come with everything :D.

Yeah, i've woke up with my legs running.

Haha, if i leave the TV on it intrudes all the time, it doesn't really integrate but the mind just accepts it as part of it all.

My flatmates were playing BF1942 at 3 am, could hear every sound, drifted off to sleep, and dreamed BF1942, and I was so lightly sleeping that I could hear their commenatary still.

Oh, and I once woke up mid jump, which was creepy, I tied my feet together the next night to be sure that it wasnt a permanent thing... :)

Plenty of times.

What happens when you're a sci-fi nut and have an alarm which is very loud and sounds like the red alert klaxon from most sci-fi movies and shows? And what happens with said alarm when you happen to have very vivid and near-real type of dreams?

I have shot out of bed more than a few times only to whack my head rather soundly on the bottom of the upper bunk, and I have rolled out of bed more than a few times with the worst combination of sleep and adrenaline.

I had a dream where I was fighting someone and went to kick them, only to be rudely awakened when the heel of my foot came crashing back down on the edge of the bed. I'm sure outside noises creep into my dreams as well: I can't think of a specific example, but I don't like to fall asleep with a TV on around me because I tend to have nightmares.

Heh, I didn't know this thread was up. If you want an example of pain in a dream that didn't infiltrate from reality, Go here and read about Chardok's "Blah"
Damn!

I once had a very wierd dream where I somehow managed to fly with my bike, but the wierd thing was the feeling I got, it felt like I really could fly, the feeling was just..... great. I woke up right before I was going to land and the first thing I did when I woke up was to try to go to sleep again to see if I could have that dream a second time. The feeling I got from that dream was just great and I wish I could have the same dream another time.

I once felt pain from a dream for a few seconds after I awoke.

Actually no.

I've on numerous occasions fell off a cliff (or driven off, whatever), felt the whole free-fall thing and the "oh, crap I'm gonna hit the ground" thing. But, I just hit the ground, then proceed to slowly get myself up and check to see if I'm hurt. I never am. I am evidently indestructible in my dreams.

Although in one dream, a shark bit my arm and then I immediately woke up and my arm was tingling. However, I think it was because I had been sleeping on it, and the sensation triggered me into thinking one of the sharks I was swimming with bit me.

I don't think I smell in my dreams.

Anyone ever done a physical action, like punching, and woke up in mid swing, so to speak?
Very very rarely. Its only when I'm about to wake up anyway, I'm usually semi-conscious. For example, I've jerked my arm a few times because of something I was dreaming about.

I nap listening to Michael Feldman on Sat mornings, it gets pretty funky.

I sometimes think my alarm is a phone, and I wonder where it is.

The only really vivid dream that I've had recently was about a year ago. It wasn't a wet dream, per se, but was still sexual. It was very odd. Hardly remember it, though.

Other than that, there's one about me and a bunch of my friends passing around a stone that changes colors like a mood ring, and a lingering feeling of death when it ended.. but that's entirely different.

One time I was having this really erotic dream where I was blindfolded and some woman was having her way with me, shortly after which I woke up and found my GF was well...having her way with me. Whether she was playing with me the whole time I was having that dream I'm not sure, but it sure felt good.

Numerous times i've been about a quater lucid and fallen off a cliff, been punched etc... in my semi dream state only to jerk suddenly and become fully awake and feel really silly.

It's quite common for me to experience things like that in dreams.

The feeling of jumping really high and far Matrix-style is a good one.

And I wonder if pussy really tastes like that.

I have often woken up in the motions of something I was doing in a dream... usually a swing or a punch or something similar.

One time I jumped in a dream. I woke up midway through the jump, did a 180 turn midair, and slammed my hand into the floor, which was accompanied by a very loud "BOOM!" My hand hurt like hell, I seriously though I had broken it. Fortunately it was OK after I went back to sleep and woke up a few hours later.

Sometimes, I get startled from a dream, and end up rolling out of bed, but that's about it.

I do that kind of stuff all the time. Most recently, my alarm intrudes on normal noises in a dream, before becoming too loud and waking me up.

I once had an interesting thought; what if when you go to "sleep", you are really waking up to the "real world"? What if the reality we all live in is just a shared dream we all have? What if... we are someone else's dream?

EDIT: Oh, I used to find myself on the OTHER SIDE OF MY BED when I woke up. I mean, my head is where my feet were the night before. Really freaked me out... then there's the time I woke up with my blanket around my waist, climbing down my ladder...

My covers are sometimes tangled up but nothing more than that. I don't move much in my sleep.

I could probably sleep on a tree branch and not fall off.
