Insofar as I care about the series l all (which I don't), my sentiments exactly.RedImperator wrote:Ah, the hell with it. The Yankees aren't in my division and the Yankees weren't the team that knocked the Phillies out of the Wild Card race. So go Yankees.
Ugh, I feel so dirty now.
Oh, what rot. The Curse had nothing to do with Boston's loss and everything to do with Grady Little rolling the dice and keeping Pedro Martinez in one inning too long. He should not have been sent out for the 8th.Xisiqomelir wrote:Also note, Curse of the Bambino is strong as ever on the Sox.
I thought they played it smart and bringing Wakefield in was a stroke of genius and sadistic as he has OWNED the Yanks this series. What better more cinematic way to win this series than by a homerun blasted by a bench warmer? Swweeettttt.Patrick Degan wrote:Oh, what rot. I hear ya, Patrick. I really wanted an underdog series.Patrick Degan wrote:Fuckin' Yankees.
Fuckin' Marlins.
The Cubs are just as cursed! A Cub-Red Sox World Series would end in a Yankees win.Kuja wrote:I hear ya, Patrick. I really wanted an underdog series.Patrick Degan wrote:Fuckin' Yankees.

There was an article in the Inquirer a few years back about how we lost the A's. Every other multi-team town in the majors that lost a team lost the one that had historically been the worst (in New York's case, it lost the two weakest teams and kept only the Yankees). By all rights, the Phillies, who had been pratically a joke in the major leagues for most of their history, should have been the ones to go west. But Connie Mack's cheapskate ways caught up to him in the forties and the club collapsed--they had something like 9 consecutive last place finishes, just as the Phillies were starting to get respectable. So attendence dropped, new owners ended up buying the A's, and off they went to Kansas City, where they'd suffer 13 consecutive losing seasons before moving again to Oakland and becoming a great franchise again.Worlds Spanner wrote:Insofar as I care about the series l all (which I don't), my sentiments exactly.RedImperator wrote:Ah, the hell with it. Although there's no doubt in my mind that the A's were the best team we ever had. It makes me think that I should root for them even now.
I see you're on the other side of the river. I'm up in Northwest Philly, specifically in Wyndmoor, which is the Chestnut Hill/Glenside area in case you don't know it.
