What are some good romantic movies to watch with a romantic interest with whom you are dating that in conjunction with a shared bottle of wine are effective in getting them in the mood for some umm  , "horizontal joggin."? :P

I'm not talking about pornos, not that those would work anyway, but movies you could find at Blockbuster.

To get my game going with the ladies some of my picks would be:

1) Sex and Lucia
2) Secretary
3) Y tu mama tambien
4) Stealing Beauty
5) Frida

Officer and a Gentleman. Romancing the Stone. Desperado (or so it seems when I see the ladies watching it). Monster's Ball (ok, ok, I really watch it for Halle Barry. So sue me).

Then, of course, there's the Lion King.

On the subject of the Lion King, has anyone else noticed that the Matrix end battle is suspiciously similar to Scar vs Simba? We have a slow motion battle, a quiet taunting proclamation of death before a drop into chasm/railway path, and we have a sudden recovery from the brink of death. I don't know about the rest of you, but I think that's fairly conclusive...

Do you hear that, Simba? That is the sound of your warthog being eaten by hyenas...

My suggestions:
Titanic: yes it's one of the worst films ever made and i'd rather have my eyes drenched in hydrochloric acid than watch it again ...... but for some reason quite a lot of girls seem to like it :?

Fellowship of the Ring: The scenes with Arwen and Aragorn somehow set the mood.

Dirty Dancing: My friends here at uni have watched this film numerous times over the past few weeks. :wtf: there must be some reason !

Well there's always the point about good suspense films to get the pulse racing for other things. Then again my current SO and I usually go to the disney fare. However most anything by Hitchcock, Silence of the Lambs, and Hanibal seem to do the trick as well....

I see.... Just be careful if she brings a bottle of Chianti and a plate of fava beans when she's about to go down on you.

If suspense films are effective in activating the female libido, then I will conclude that I should watch The Ring (either version) next time I have a chica over.

Suspense activates addrenal gland and gives them an excuse to "cuddle" not that they needed one....

I think you could do far worse than that. Though it is just a tale about how evil pyramid schemes really are, and how no good will come of them.....though that isnt as cool as evil spirits bent on vengance.....

I should also add my gf got all worked up with "Natural Born Killers", so I suppose in some cases that could feature on the list.

None of those movies are good "gettin' it on" movies. You don't want a movie that holds your attention, because then you will be watching the movie instead of having sex. The only kinds of movies which are good for sex are the kind of movies where they get you in the mood but they're cheesy enough that you don't actually need to follow the story. Those crap 80s beach-house teen movies probably fit the bill, as do pornos.

Another possibility is that she'll want to talk about the movie after it's over; yet another reason not to get a particularly well-done movie if your objective is to make out.

Isn't that the one where the LA cop falls for the Chinese Assassin?

No, this is the one with Whoopi Goldberg as a medium, Demi Moore the "widow" (they weren't married) and What's-his-face as the dead boyfriend.

I think that's "Ghost" rather than "The Ghost"

Well, close enough.

Technically, since "The" was the first word in my sentence, it shoulda been capitalized, and I was referring to "The" in terms of "The movie" and...

*sees hordes of villagers coming at him with burning torches and pitchforks*

Ok, I'll stop now.

"Ghost" was a totally inferior film to "Always", which had a very similar theme. It explores its theme of death and love only on the most childishly simplistic level. While the male ghost of "Always" must learn to let go of his possessive instincts and encourage his widowed fiance to spread her wings and find happiness in the arms of another man, the male ghost of "Ghost" just wants to kick the ass of the guy who offed him, reveal himself to his widow, and then leave her hanging as he waltzes off into the sunset.

"Always" forces a difficult choice upon the male protagonist: your jealousy or your former fiance's happiness with a new man. "Ghost" neatly solves that dilemma by making the new man a murderous asshole, so Patrick Swayze gets to come in and righteously beat him up (and then kill him, whereupon he is promptly dragged to Hell by demons) in classic Hollywood style. Naturally, Ghost made far more money at the box office.

But by your words, you don't want a big, deep movie if it's a "gettin' it on" flick.

So, within the objectives set forth in this topic, wouldn't "Ghost" be the better pick?

And, as an aside, I never even heard of "Always" before, but it sounds like a good movie. I'll have to look it up sometime.

That's no chick film because it has David Bowie in it. I mean you'll be in awe of the movie and its David Bowie presence....

What you want is the Man who fell to Earth, absolutley horrible seventies movie with (some) Nudity...
