"If you can punch in "up, up, down, down, left, right, B, A, start" in less than 3 seconds"
So true.

I am an evil child of the 80s. I listen to cheesy 80s music like Laura Branigan's Self Control.

I vaguely remember that being a cheat code of some kind on the NES or SNES. Which is it?

It's the infamous Konami code which I believe originated in NES
Contra.

Although the web site made a mistake. The full Konami Code is Up,Up,Down,Down,Left,Right,
Left,Right, BA Start.
In Contra and Lifefforce, it gave you 30 lives.
In Gradius, it gave you full powerups.
In Gradius II(SNES)... I forget. I think the original code killed you, but a variation gave you the powerups.
In Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner, if you pull it off during the Boss Battle Extra Mission against Vic Viper, it unlocked the Vic Viper Gradius-style minigame(without you having to get it during the story mode again). Inputting it again during the minigame gives you full powerups.

It was also famous for being the "blood code" on the Sega Genesis version of the original Mortal Kombat that made all the SNES whores jealous. But that was the 90's.
Konami has been using this code since the days of Contra and Punch Out.

So do I.
Listening to 80s music is probably my largest guilty pleasure.

I like the good ol' eighties games.
Ah, GTA: VC, how I love thee.

Wow, I'm a child of the 80's...and I didn't even really live through them. Ah the joys of hanging around your older siblings as much as you could. Because of them I often refer to myself as an almost 80's child.

It also worked for Abadox.

I just barely missed that era, being born in '86. Some of the list still applies to me though.

The only thing I remember from that list is Duck Hunt. Then again I was born in September 85.

You envied the kid down the street who had all six Constructicons.
I WAS the kid down the street who had all six Constructicons.
There were a number of things in that list that I wished I'd never hear about again

Hey, at least most of the stuff in the 90s and 70s at least sounded like something! A lot of the stuff from the 80s sounded like a collection of sounds put together with some over-done electronic mixing and lyrics added in.
This is not to say that there were indeed some really good pieces out from the 80s, but in general, blaaaahhh.

You obviously missed metal. The '80s were the peak of heavy metal... although it didn't gain as much acceptance in America as the hair bands, it still was fairly popular.
