No Poll, just input, Were you monking around with the ones at the early university, do we have one of the original AT&T operators that was drafted into Cypher works back in WWII, does some one remember hacking vacume tubes and rewiring boards. Does anyone remember typing lines into punch cards, big reels of magnetic tape, Early BBSing, the Wargames boom, the start of Webs, Trash-80's. What was around when you started messing around with computers.
Personally I cheated, my mom couldn't find Daycare for me, between her active hippie life, so she let me get babysat by the computer science department at Humbolt State university. I was entering code into Punchcards when I was in Kindergarden.

I worked with Commodore-64s when I was a small child. (How many of y'all remember
those???) When I was just entering my teens, I was assembling IBM PCs (I'm talking the original 8088s,) and PC-XTs for sale.

First time on a computer was in 1985 on the classic apple 2e. I still got some old 5 1/4" floppies and an old dot matrix printer somewhere around the house.

Shit man, Commodore 64. That was a long ass time ago. Had you posed a question like this about five years ago, I'd still be in High School were some cpu geeks screw around with those outdated shit fits, sort of like what your doing. Heh.

Ever since I was 6. Almost 15 years ago. My dad had an old IBM. Cant remember what model exactly. I know it had something like 640k ram and its CPU was less than 10mhz. It had dual 5 1/4 inch floppys and it didn't even have a color monitor either. (orange screen display) We also had a nice, fat, bad ass, black and white dot matrix printer.
It was fun though cause I played my first games on it. Long live Sopwith!

Had a C64 when I was about 7 and a 286 {16mhz and 6meg of RAM} when I was 14 but only really started to learn how to assemble and use them properly in the last 3 years. Now I have three computers, two of which work.

Ok,YB, just show our age, why don't you?
Let's see, Apple II back in 5th grade. That would be... 23 years ago.
Since then I've worked with IIe, IBM PS2, C64, Atari's computer, Mac, misc. IBM, blah, blah, blah.
I learned Pascal in high school. Programed the school fight song and they used it for several years in the library during PTA meetings and such... that is until computers got faster and better.

True story, Oregon Trail was written by one of my middle school teachers. I started with the good ol' Apple ][ way back when, and figured out how to put the things into a counting loop.

means he over clocked the processor speed from what ever it was. I forget the Apple 2's clocking.
As of 4 years ago, my old chool still had Apple 2's in the classrooms.

Acutal Overclocking refers to any computer part run over spec
For example, did you know ther is a way to overclock Floppy drives?
Yes there is, one of the reasons I went through so many of those things is its a no going back sort of deal

Ah, yes, the good old days of AppleBASIC, playing OT on II+'s and IIe's, and line numbers being required for programs.
First computers I used were Apple II+/e's, Commodore VIC-20/64's, and a brief sit-down at a friend's TI computer (the old membrane keyboard). First computer I actually owned was the Colecovision ADAM...
