Inspirational Shit

Ok, so, glancing through the venting thread in HOS made me think of the things that I read that brighten my spirits some after posting in said venting thread. So! I thought I'd ask around and see what kind of words make you feel like there's hope for life, or love, or the world.
Anything, whether it's song lyrics, lines from a poem, famous quotes, lines from a good movie or book, something a friend or relative said--anything that make you feel like life doesn't suck as much as you thought it did, and maybe there's hope that things will get better.
The first one that comes to my mind is a quote from Ghandi: "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Reminds me that I have hundreds of young people looking up to me, and that they will only grow up well if they have someone to look up to. Quite simply, I want that someone to be me.
There also a poem called "Desiderata" by Max Ehrmann that has been posted up on a lot of college dorm rooms that I love. Click
here for a copy of the poem if you don't know it.
Also, no matter how badly I'm feeling, the song "I've Got Two Legs" by Monty Python always makes me laugh, even when I'm in the worst mood ever. I just think it's hilarious.
Anyway, this is a personal kind of thing, so maybe my quotes sound corny to you, but they work for me. So what works for you?

Realizing that if life was "fair" I would've died a virgin 8 years ago. Every time I start sulking and thinking that my life is sucking I can think back on that and realize that no amount of suckage can compare with being dead without even getting laid. But it rarely comes down to that these days, all it takes is a call to my GF or one of my other chick friends and everything's good again.

The song Heavenly Day by Picture House contains the following lyrics:
There's a chalk smile drawn in the road
It could be mine, I'm taking it home
It's for you, me, and everybody I know
I'm just giving it away

What are man's truths ultimately? Merely his irrefutable errors.
That always lifts my spirits.

The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars have always lifted me up. It reminds me that there is such a thing as triumph in the jaws of defeat, that the underdog can win, that against all odds a glimmer of hope can still remain.
Also, there are quotes I rotate in my sig that inspire those feelings too:
"Impossible is a word people use to make themselves feel better when they give up." - Vyse - Skies of Arcadia
"Just as you touch the energy of every life form you meet, so, too, will their energy strengthen you. Fail to live up to your potential, and you will never win." - Gaspar - Chrono Trigger
"I ain't been vampired. You've been Weatherwaxed." - Granny Weatherwax - Carpe Jugulum

It may sound weird but what cheers me up is the soundtrack to the PS1 horror game "Silent Hill".

The phrase "It could be worse."
If that phrase is no longer applicable, then the phrase "any change will be for the better."

Firstly, Sd.net people, I love you all. I hope you found that inspiring.
What cheers me up is a song called The Eldar by Blind Guardian.
I've seen the moon
And the first sunrise
I'll leave it to the memories
and kiss the wind goodbye
Also the LOTR movie, mainly the stuff in Lothlorien, and the Green Dragon scene in the extended version. Or sometimes some extremely sad stuff like the Buffy episode Passion.

A Friday afternoon cheers me up. Things people say or do don't work at making me feel better, unless it's some hot chick saying "Let's have sex!".

Andy Dufresne overcoming adversity always cheers me up...looking through my sketches and remembering the adventures i'd thought through...reading an idiot's arguments and knowing i'm smarter than them...some guilty inspiration, but it's all good.

a.k.a Liquid Inspiration.
Inspriation is that hard on you wake up with in the morning after a night of passionate sex, Inspiration is your freinds chanting your name after the sixteenth beer, its that Little birdie on your shoulder that lets you know wether or not theres going to be a highway patrolman on the freeway to work when youre running late, Inspiration is the phone riniging while you're taking the biggest dump in your life. Inspiration is the clasp on the back of your girlfriends Bra while she's moaning. Inspiration is just tearing that damn thing off when your desperate. Inspiration is a demented researcher with electric cables hooked up to your nipples and a chunk of cheese notfive feet from your chair. Its a hoarse female voice telling you never to stop when youre on the brink of orgasm, Its a short skirt on a long elevator, its a paycheck after forty hours of hell, its twelve seconds to go, with everything on the line, and the ball in your hands.
Inspiration, its right next to us when we succeed yelling as loud as it can, and its gone just as soon as the police haul your ass off to jail.

I find spending my Friday's and Saturday's with my best friends little girl to be a great lift of spirits. Seeing her speak a new word, clap her hands, or when she runs to me to hide from the terrible noise of the vacuum cleaner makes me aware that life could be worse.

Am sitting here arranging a piece for percussion ensemble, and I realized that the lyrics to this piece belong here.
The song is called "Wanting Memories," it's by Ysaye Barnwell, and it's for a cappella SATB chorus.
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes
Yes I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes
You used to rock me in the cradle of your arms
You said you'd hold me 'til the pains of life were gone
You said you'd comfort me in times like these and now I need you
And now I need you, and you are gone
So I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes
Since you've gone and left me, there's been so little beauty
But I know I saw it clearly through your eyes
Now the world outside is such a cold and bitter place
Here inside I have few things that will console
And when I try to hear your voice above the storms of life
Then I remember that I was told
I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes
Yes I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes
I think on the things that made me feel so wonderful when I was young
I think on the things that made me laugh, made me dance, made me sing
I think on the things that made me grow into a being full of pride
Think on these things, for they are truth
And I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty of the world through my own eyes
I thought that you were gone, but now I know you're with me
You are the voice that whispers all I need to hear
I know a "please," a "thank you," and a smile will take me far
I know that I am you and you are me and we are one
I know that who I am is numbered in each grain of sand
I know that I've been blessed again and over again, and again, and again
Yes I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes
Yes I am sitting here wanting memories to teach me
To see the beauty in the world through my own eyes...

I don't know if it will help you but maybe if you substitute a word or two...
"The key to running faster, is to run faster."
Words from good, old Coach Gee. Before a race, when I feel like shit, I remember what he said and it makes me feel a little better.
