Personally, in this order:
PS2
PSX
PC
Sega
SNES
NES
Sega Handheld
GameBoyAdvance
GameBoy
I utterly DESPISE N64...not because of the console (very awesome), but bcause of the controller--WAY too many buttons!!!

Commodore 64.
It came out in the hey day video games. Yes, new better platforms have come out since, but I had so much fun in those days.
Back then games, came in boxes full of souveniers, maps, and well written manuals.

Praise be to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. May you be worshiped as the Console God you are.
\/\/007 \/\/007 !!
(The N64 controller had too many buttons for you? It only has 10 buttons, a d-pad, and a joystick, for a total of 12 objects. The PS2/PS1 has 10 buttons, a d-pad, and two joysticks, for a total of 13 objects (not counting the "Analog" button, since it's not used for gameplay).)

These days its just little cases with booklets that are supposed to pass off as manuals.

The entire industry has changed. Its is rare now that games are produced by a small team of indivuals with a passion. It still happens, its just rare.

There was always the Z-button in the back that I could never get a hold of...plus the shape is just WEIRD! All the buttons are too close in proximity, I meant.

The Z-trigger is easy to access when you hold the centre grip in your left hand (like a gun's trigger, hense the name).
Thanks for clarifying about the button proximity. I can see how that could be a problem (although I never had a problem with it).

Atari 2600, the GOD of all consoles.
Yeah, nowadays it looks crappy, but damn, look at all the cool games they brought out for it!

I didnt have a 2600, parents could not afford it at the time.
But, I have fun memories of playing it at relatives and friends homes.
Remember, nodoby wanted to be the big plane in Combat?

*was going to say somethign obvious, but figured that even idiots know it*
Look I like the xbox. I liked all the game systems I ever had. I hope there is a "software sweatshop" out ther ewith a hundred employees, making em.
Who cares how many people make the games. Things just get better and better, I could never go back to say genisis, except to play sword of vermilion again, or the fantasey star series. Those were cool games.
who cares.....

Yes! And while I really enjoy how they have updated a bunch of the games (i.e. Galaga, Space Invaiders, etc.) I still love the original 8-bit game.
My new phone has a ring it calls "uh-oh". You know what it is? The opening of Donkey Kong.

Dear god! We need to fast-forwad you a tad. You and I may be brushing noses in the age category, but even I couldn't claim that pixel-ponging dino as being the best ever.
The golden age of video games was the year just as the SNES debuted! The NES was at its glory peak, Sega was still reasonable competition, and pirated games for the C64 were still plentiful...

But, if you look at them all clumped together, not saying one looks better than the other or whatever... which did you have the most fun with?
For me, it was the 2600.
Hey, I even got my MOM to play Space Invaders with me. (She was in her 50's at the time)

Even further back for me, the Atari 2400. Ah, to fake sickness to sit at home all day and play asteroids or missile command. The emotional connection with the people running around in choplifter. Those were the days.

No arguments, I suppose. My mom lived and breathed Dr. Mario on the NES, actually. Now she and my dad have an N64, PS2 and full-on power gaming computer. And she's damn near a certifiable historical monument.

Heh...every time I go back home, Dr. Mario is the one vid game we play over there, now...My Mom's friend Lori DOES live, eat, and breathe Dr. Mario!

Abso-fucking-lutely. It's got all of classics. No console has yet matched that baby.

i will probably be the only one to say this but my favorite is the Sega Genesis. Gunstar heroes, Phantasy star series, Sonic. Followed by (very closely) SNES. Castlevania 4, FF series, Metriod.

Ah, but had it not been for the Atari 2600, the Nintendo would never have existed.
(yes, I still have my 2600. Unfortunately, I no longer have a TV I can play it on.
)
