Now here's a good idea for a reality show. Let's just hope they don't screw it up.

I'm not sure about the pay-per-view aspect though.

New reality TV show to find porn star

Nov. 4, 2003 | LOS ANGELES (AP) -- A new reality TV show asks the question: "Can YOU Be a Pornstar?"

Mary Carey, the porn actress who ran for California governor in the recent recall election, is among the hosts, joining fellow adult-film stars Tabitha Stevens and Ginger Lynn.

Silhouette Productions announced plans Monday to shoot seven one-hour shows, with plans to start broadcasting on iN DEMAND Networks and other pay-per-view channels on Jan. 8.

A group of 28 women will compete for a one-year contract with a major adult video distributor and a cash prize of $100,000.

"It's going to be an R-rated version for pay-per-view," Silhouette Productions chief executive officer Harry Feingold told The Associated Press.

"Obviously, there will be outtakes that will be hardcore," which will likely turn up on DVD release later.

"It's like `Paradise Hotel,' when they go behind the scenes. Everybody wants to know what's going on. Well, here you see it," he said, referring to the Fox network reality series about young people trying to seduce each other.

In each episode, four women arrive at a house in Los Angeles for photo shoots, interviews and "surprises," according to Silhouette. Viewers will help pick eight finalists for a 90-minute finale.

The statement promised "uninhibited nudity and sizzling sexuality," while the show's official Web site said it would feature "Real people having real sex!"

"Pay-per-view gives us the freedom to take reality television where it has never gone before," Feingold said. "The last stigma today for audiences isn't renting adult films, it's admitting it, and this series offers viewers a fun, behind-the-scenes look at the star-making process in a multibillion dollar industry."

He added that the show is designed "not just for men, but for wives and girlfriends who enjoy both reality TV and adult entertainment."

Place your vote on who you think will be the first to catch HIV.

I don't get it. People don't catch HIV spontaneously, only from other people who have HIV. So if 100 people don't have HIV, how come people keep expecting one of them to have HIV by the end of the day?

One presumes all participants will get tested beforehand for stds, as happens in the porn industry.

I would imagine that they'd get tested early and often.

Plus, I thought they had to use condoms a lot of the time in the new productions.

Also, in porn, not only do they "fake it" they actually fake it. Often if you don't or can't see what is going on they might be faking it just like the do in mainstream movies except that sooner or later they'll come around shoot the "real thing" and the money shots.

Do you really think they would take time with digital SFX.

Nope, nor would they spend the money either. :)

Maybe it's all special make-up effects, animatronics, claymation. :)

Okay, I give. In the ones you saw they were riding bareback.

I dunno. There is plenty of amatuer porn all over the net and video stores. most of them have the ladies talking about themselves. Not sure this will really be a big thing.

Skin seems to be doing the behind the scenes aspect somewhat. And amateur porn does the rest.

I don't know how well this will do. Though it is rather funny.

Individuals in the porn industry tends to only sleep with others in the porn industy and everyone gets tested regularly. This has the effect of making it one of the least dangerous professions when it comes to HIV.

From Asia Carrera's personal website:
We have to get a new AIDS test every thirty days. We cannot work without a certified copy of our test results present at the set where we are working, and they are photocopied at every shoot and kept on file with a copy of 2 forms of ID. Since we tend to only date and sleep with other people within our industry, we are actually probably one of the safest groups around. How often do you guys swap AIDS tests before having sex with someone you meet at a bar or club?

Also depends on what studio is making the flik. If its a shit hole studio who's just trying to make a quick buck, their not gonna give a shit about the actors and waiting around thirty days for a test result. Day 1) Find trashbag hoe and convince her to do you flik. Day 2) Shoot scene with said Trashbag hoe. Day 5) Video in post production. The bigger studios like Vivid and Wicked look after their folks cuz they are contracted to them and they actually give a shit about ther saftey.

I'd tune in to see it. Unfortunatly i don't think a show like that would see the light of day this side of the pond. Pity.

What, I thought your side of the pond was much better about sex being on tv but more restrictive about the violence. I don't think this is going to be violent porn. :)

It's not going to be on mainstream tv here either.

They do plan on putting it on DVD so you can see it then if it turns out to be worth the rental. :D

Nah, the Playboy Chanel UK can't even show penetration. Admitidly it's been a while since i stayed up late to watch but i doubt it's relaxed that much.

Granted it's been a long time (1980s) since I've seen the Playboy channel but I don't recall it showing penetration over here either. What I've seen of their more recent video productions they stay more towards the soft core aspect and away from real porn anyway.

Now Spice, on the other hand, is different. Plus I think it's pay-per-view.
