what is the title of the song that appears in the hi-band connection introduction to this site: http://www.thepenguinconspiracy.com/
(I seem to recall music like this being used during large medeival charges and stuff trailers for Excalibur and the like)

Additionally, what is the title of the song that appears in many movies (Like aliens) consists of lots of string/brass/perc hits that builds in dynamics and intensity until there is a large pause and (Usually an explosion is featured after the pause)

Dundundunduh dun dun dunn dunn dundundundun dun DUN DUN DUN! (Explosion or something)

I know that was pathetic, but it's all I have to go on...

O' Fortuna from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

I've heard this song on Glory and Doors soundtrack too, and in a lot of commercials. I remember Mcdonnel Douglas played this when they were introducing this new passenger aircraft that was supposed to save their company.

edit: misspelled doors

People have a tendancy to use the song just because it sounds cool, regardless of the lyrics, which talk about "luck" (ie. Fortuna). It goes something like, "o luck, like the moon, always changing, either waxing or waining,...." and often completely inappropriate to the action/drama at hand.

The only song I can think of with explosions is "1812 overture" by that Tchaikovsky dude, but I don't think they played that in aliens so that's probably not it.

"Thus spake Zarathusia(sp)"? It's also known as the "2001 Theme".

I don't know what it's called, but most of Aliens' music was composed by James Horner.

Okay, Amazon has listings for Aliens and Aliens the Deluxe Edition on soundtrack.

Here's the link to the regular version. It has a link so you can listen to part of what is labled as "Atmosphere Station"

There appears to be a lot more music on the Deluxe Edition but Amazon only lists samples for three tunes under it's listing.

It looks like the Aliens music was composed by James Horner for the movie, and probably doesn't share a "popular" tune with other movies.
