pcAnywhere is a program that lets you log into a Windows machine over a TCP/IP network such as the Internet (Unix and friends comes with this built in, but in windows you need a special program for it).
What you are
supposed to do is either 1. put a good password on the thing, or 2. not expose pcAnywhere equipped machines to the hostile territory which is the internet. (Gold star for anyone that notes that option 2 is FAR safer)
What you
often get, is people connecting their pcAnywhere equipped machines to the Net, and then using a lousy password (or no password at all).
And so, it becomes productive for script kiddies to scan for open pcAnywhere ports - this will usually let you log into the machine, and since it is a windows box, you will probably end up with full permissions to do whatever you want.
Here endeth the lesson
