My older sister's boyfriend was airlifted to a hospital for a ruptured aorta.

...How is he doing? How big was the rupture and how much blood was lost?
That's gotta suck... I mean, your main artery bursting... My condolences, hope he makes it.

Well, if they got him to hospital soon enough hopefully he'll be okay. Best wishes for his recovery. Best to just be there for your sister, she's going to need you.

I dunno. I just know that he was feeling crappy then then went to the doctor then they had him airlifted because his aorta had ruptured.

Phew. the split hasn't opened yet. It's right next to the spinal cord and the doctors have opted to plan it out rather than jump right into surgery.

That is very bad, even if it hasn't yet ruptured. I hope your fiend makes it.
A couple years ago my dad's aorta essentially unraveled. He was driving at the time and noticed something was wrong when his leg lost all feeling. He was told later that if he hadn't driven himself to the nearest hospital, which was real fun in a stick shift, he would have certainly died. But a quick airlift, a long surgery and couple new pig and titanium heart vales later he was out of the hospital. Unfortunately he's since had to go back weekly, some times twice weekly to have blood drawn to monitor his levels of blood thinner. Hopefully your friend won't have to go through that and his levels will regulate.
