Question About Remembrance Day

If you heard that transsexuals wanted to put an international day of remembrance for transsexuals in November practically right next to Armistice Day/Veteran's Day, what would you say?
I ask only because our resident nut at SB.com, mellian, has made a thread promoting such a day and the uproar over it was quite absolute.

?
Do they mean TGs who died in wars or just in remembrance of the fact that TGs exist?
Both ideas are a bit wierd...

Just TGs that died, namely through random things like lack of healthcare or being robbed.
Someone said I'm just being bigoted against TGs, I honestly don't give a crap about them, they can have their rather inane day so long as it's not smack bang next to a day of importance.
Call me mad, I just think remembering those that gave their lives in the bloodiest and most widespread wars in history is a little more important than TGs who died via random events.

My thoughts too, but apparently I'm a bigot because I won't let TGs have their pointless day within a week of Armistice Day.

You got labelled a bigot at
SpaceBattles for this?
While I don't see any pressing need for a Transgender Day, I'm not really opposed to it either. But I AM curious as to the reasoning for putting it in November.

Yow...damn, because you don't see the need for it, it labels you a bigot.
Still curious why a day close to Vet's day or whatnot?
Does it make it more important?

Near enough, the fact is, because I don't see a point to this day, at least being so near a more important time, I'm obviously prejudiced against TGs and the like. Yeah, like how I must also be prejudiced against gays as well, oh wait.

They're the threads. I honestly can't be bothered wasting time with Mellian anymore, she's obviously not listening to my views.

I don't see a need for it either. After all if you start making TG's day then where do you draw the line and say no you can't have a day? It would also pollute the calendar with more days and make days like Veterans day or Memorial Day less special.
As for them wanting it so close to Veterans day what is the reason? is it to get a response from veterans and such or is it because something significant happened to a transgendered person that day that makes it important? And are they wanting this day nationaly recognized? or just within the transgendered community? Because there are lots of days like that such as November 18th is recognized in College Station and at Texas A&M University and in the Aggie Family as the Bonfire Rememberance day. November 18th is used because it is the day that the bonfire collapsed and killed 12 Aggies.

I find this completely pointless. Mellian is an idiot. Why do you bother?

Admittedly I was bored having just finished some coursework and was rereading the ASVS FUQ insults again.
Have you read the second thread through now? More people have decided to get involved, I just gave up halfway through.

And that, my friends, is why I don't dare touch the Non-sci-fi discussion forum...

Who cares what day it's next to? It could be next to Christmas or my Birthday, and I don't give a crap. It's not like anybody other than transsexuals or whatever are going to celebrate it. And I have no problem with transsexuals. And if everybody did celebrate it, good for them, celebrations are cool.
And Veteran's Day is a useless holiday anyways. Why do we need a day set aside to remember veterans? Can't we do that any day of the week? I mean, if they want to come up with some traditions, maybe a feast, some gift-giving, maybe some fireworks...then we'd talk. But as it is, Veteran's Day is only notable by the fact that the bank and the post office are closed, and they're closed fifty percent of the time anyways, the lazy bastards.

Mellian is an idiot, you know that. He plugs his fingers into his ears and goes "la la la" and types up another rant.

I suppose cause their sacrifices were great enough to warrant a NATIONAL holiday, where the entire country takes day off to give their respects, don't you think?
In a way, the government's giving its respects too by setting it a national holiday. That way there's a greater significance to the vets' deeds.
EDIT: Another big thing about the remembrance day (the transgender one) was the whole political angle of it. It was basically a political maneuver.

But that's just the thing...the country
doesn't take the day off...most people still work on Veteran's Day. It's only government workers, schoolchildren, and a handful of people with bosses who don't like money that get it off. Retail and White Collar jobs have to work it, and I assume Blue Collar jobs do too, though I don't know anybody who works a blue collar job, so I can't ask them.
If people started recognizing Veteran's Day as a real holiday, with either the day off or holiday pay, and people actually did something related to remembering veterans on the day, then it would be a real holiday. It's not that I hate veterans or anything, it's just that I recognize that it's an impotent holiday.

If a continuous flow of holidays are being incorporating, schools may decide to take the days that has been taken off and shove them in the summer and that won't be nice.
