A thought I had: Ghosts in the service industry

Some time ago I was watching the movie the 6th sense and it occurred to me that Bruce's character still performed his job as a child psychiatrist despite his..ah disability (the one we aren't told about till the end). The kid was more sociable and more accepted at the end of the film and it can be traced back to Bruce's presence. So I was thinking that "ghosts" could still be used as workers in informational/service jobs. I was wondering at what the consequences would be to utilizing the ghosts in that movie in this fashion- both social (public reaction) and economical (how would it effect it).
One thing that came to mind was the fact that ghosts exist as troubled souls who need to accomplish something or learn that they are dead. An effective workforce of "ghosts" could only be maintained by withholding that knowledge and/or keep them form accomplishing their task.
