Can people
possibly get any dumber?
http://maroon.uchicago.edu/news/article ... r_neut.php
Gender neutral bathrooms at the University of Chicago, because:
“Going to the bathroom is a moment where definition is very important in choosing a door,” said Mary Anne Case, one of the panelists.
She pointed out that many women’s restrooms have a caricature of a person in a dress on it. “Going into it implies that we are willing to be associated with that image. There are only two [images] to choose from. This moment involves an act of self-labeling.”
Every time you think the world can't get crazier, it does. Every time you think fanatical wackos devoted to some cause can't get any more ridiculous, or blow anything even more out proportion than they already have, they do. Holy shit this woman needs a severe beating.
It just gets better too.
Nate Claxton, another panelist, knew people who had contracted bladder infections because choosing a gender bathroom bothered them so much that they did not go to the bathroom all day.
Oh fucking waaaah! Cry me a river.

Speaking as a regular attendee of a guy's college bathroom, I honestly don't understand WHY women would want to share. It is not a pretty place.

I think I am going to just have to try and pretend I never saw this thread so I can trick myself into thinking I never read that article. I am tired enough, that if I tell myself after I wake up that it was a dream, maybe I won't have to accept that it is real. . .

Are people actually encouraged to be this stupid? How is a caricature on a rest room door, and having to hang a shit or take a piss, an act of self-labeling? When your bowels are ready to explode I doubt you're going to have hang-ups on what "image" you wish to be associated with.

That's got to be bullshit. As if you would get a bladder infection and not go to the toilet because of the fucking symbolism. If i need the toilet, i'll go in any nearby latrine facility, male or female (as long as it's not the ones on station park in horwich, bolton).

Sorry.

I just felt like vocalising my annoyance with that quote. I may have come off a little too harsh. And er, foul.

This is bullshit. People can't be that stupid. A monkey is smarter then that. A fucking
unicellular organisim is smarter then that.

You'd hope so, but I've learned that there truly is no limit to stupidity. Honestly now, they could've just pissed into bottles or peed behind a bush. But that is apparently beyond their mental powers.

I'm taking it with a grain of salt, but with all of the other PC nonsense going on in the world, I wouldn't be surprised if it was true.
It's probably just a symbol for people who don't know English well enough to understand the "men" and "women" signs and need help going ot the bathroom or something, I don't see why someone should be offended by it. Who knows what they'll go after next?

In Europe, a lot of places have co-ed bathrooms. What's the big deal and why is it so manifestly stupid to do it? Separate male and female bathrooms are a holdover of Christian puritanism, remember? The Romans didn't bother with that shit.

My res building at the university of Ottawa had a rather interesting system for washrooms. We had 2 washrooms on each floor, and both of them were equipped for both men & women. There were signs saying which one was the male & female washroom, but in the morning or evening rush we'd go use whichever one had room available. No one ever complained about it as far as I know and things worked out quite well.

...I'd think, given male habits in the bathroom, women would be more inclined to be thankful for their own
But I fail to see the point in marking single-person bathrooms as "male" or "female". Just have two unisex bathrooms and be done with it.

I don`t know how it is around where you live, but here some higienists did an unofficial comparison between mens and womens bathrooms, taking samples on everything from faucets to door handles and they found that womens bathrooms had almost a hundred times more germs than the mens.
So wich gender is the filthiest.

Or rather the gender that tends to miss.
I have nothing wrong with GN bathrooms, my dorm has them, and I can't see why people need to fight for them or against them.
Take a vote, that's that.

I don't think people are freaking out over the
concept of neuter plumbing, but the stupidity of the examples given in the OP.
When I have to piss so bad it hurts, I let it go at the closest thing resembling convenience. If you can't use a toilet because a cude piece of artwork is oppressing you, you have more serious problems than any bladder infection can cause.

The gender that squats eight inches over a toilet seat and sprays piss everywhere to avoid seat contact. Repeat ad nauseam and you have your winner.

I seriously doubt those stories were literally true. I can't imagine some girl enduring pain because she's offended by the little skirt-wearing pictogram on the womens' bathroom. It's far more likely that it was filthy and she didn't want to use it for that reason, but it sounded more politically activist to make up some bullshit motivation.
