Fucking idiots.

I hope everyone here is boycotting all major labels. By independent, but what ever you do, don't help out the RIAA.

Or just download it.

It's not like I ever buy CD's anyway.

So this is why some artists have a chronic fear of "major labels".

If they some how manage to do that and my ISP rates go up, I'm making a little graphic, copyrighting it, and then suing there ass's off for using it. I mean, I have no proof they have it, but they have no proof I'm downloading pirate materials....

Wow I thought that was in the US for a second. Still the artists would prob get more money from that than from CD sales even on small royalties.

If they did this, then they would have to make it legal to download music in Canada (you can't very well tax someone for doing something and then charge them in court for it too; it's either a legitimate taxable activity or it's not). It's already legal to make individual copies of CDs in Canada because of the blank CD tax.

Not neccessarily, at least in the US. You might all know that, famously, Al Capone was brought down for income tax evasion. However the income he failed to report was his illicit earnings, thus the activity was both illegal AND taxable. The joy of being the government is that you can have your cake and eat it too.

You might as well download the music and then send the price of the CD to the artist themselves...Cut out the RIAA entirely!

This *could* start a trend... :P

Unfortunently, all that is likely to get you is the RIAA getting your address from the letter and then sueing you. Unless I'm mistaken, the artists don't "own" the music with their name on it, and they certainly don't own the CDs. It would be a little like stealing from Best Buy, then going to Walmart and offering to pay for it.

I think that this is yet another reasons that bands should become independent from record companies altogether.
