Bah! you're just jealous, now that Jaguars are Fords and Rolls Royce's are volkswagens. All thats left in jolly old England is Cooper, and do i even need to use the penile envy joke that lies within that?Admiral Valdemar wrote:I always thought American cars were shit, now it's like someone is running a secret campaign to prove me right once every month.
Pfft, the guys that make the cars are still Brits, it's no different to us once owning Smith & Wesson and most of your school bus services.Col. Not really, they installed a steering system in this model.Montcalm wrote:The Third Man wrote:But AV, just down the road from where you are Britain's second-biggest (IIRC) car manufacturer is building what can only be described as muscle cars!

As far as I know, in the car... somewhere.Montcalm wrote:On the right or left sideAdmiral Valdemar wrote:Not really, they installed a steering system in this model.Montcalm wrote:Looks like they are trying to copy the Dodge Viper.
There's a thing on GTO, new & old, on the XXX DVD.Col. Crackpot wrote:it's pretty cool looking... but i'd rather have this!
Tell me you are not refering to the tiny and underpowered Austin Healey, MG, and Triumph tin cans from the 60's? Those cars were about as refined and reliable as Polish farm equipment. The Jaguar XKE was a nice ride, but still it spend more time at the mechanic waiting for parts to arrive from Coventry than it did on the road.Admiral Valdemar wrote: Pfft, the guys that make the cars are still Brits, it's no different to us once owning Smith & Wesson and most of your school bus services.
Besides, our vintage models beat the crap out of muscle cars* which have all the elegance of Cold War era Ladas.
*The '65 Mustang in Bullitt being the exception.
What's wrong with cars made from blocks of steal with the biggest damn engine available stuffed in them?Admiral Valdemar wrote:You'll note they actually employ car designers at TVR. They are not cars made from blocks of steel with the biggest damn engine available short of a gas turbine.
Plus, Hollywood likes them a lot now.
i love the stupid rednecks they cast in those ads! 'That thing got a hemi? Well now i got a hemi! An' i got somethin you don't got, check this out!'Tsyroc wrote: There have even been advertisements where they make a big deal about the latest Dodge pickup and monster SUV having a Hemi engine in it. The commercial for the pickup has a guy towing a vintage Dodge Charger on a trailer, trying to connect the two in the minds of motorheads.
In one of the follow-up adds those two "rednecks" are flippin' burgers at some restaurant.Col. Crackpot wrote: i love the stupid rednecks they cast in those ads! 'That thing got a hemi? Well now i got a hemi! An' i got somethin you don't got, check this out!'
lol
1968, so it is. Guess I like the earlier ones too.Col. Crackpot wrote:Tell me you are not refering to the tiny and underpowered Austin Healey, MG, and Triumph tin cans from the 60's? oh and that was a 1968 Mustang in Bullitt.
I'd have to differ. The Germans have brilliant electronics from all experiences with them. The only problem I have seen was when my Dad needed to check the car's computer was okay since the seal on the casing didn't seem watertight, but that was due to the guys giving the MOT not checking properly.Col. Crackpot wrote:The Germans were never good with electronics. Not like the Japanese. Your best bet is a Japanese car built in the US or Canada. Honda Accord or Civic, Toyota Corolla etc.
BMW now builds Minis. That's one of the few things they retained when they (finally!) sold Rover.Col. That they are but too damn expensive most of the time. Even Volkswagon is getting on the bandwagon again and pricing itself out of the range of the lower end buyers.Dahak wrote:
