Is this weight unhealthy?

Girl is twenty years old, five-foot-three, weighs ninety pounds. She wants to lose another ten. I've tried telling her this is terrible and unhealthy. Vote, so I can show her the thread.

She needs help. Skinny women are not only horrible to cuddle, but too weak and unpleasant to look at. Not to mention the health risks of eating too little or badly.

Eating disorder. She should be around 100 at that height; that's considered "normal" now, although I'd have to run it through the BMI calculator to be sure.

I'd say that is bordering on, if not actually, an eating disorder (namely anorexia nervosa?).

Take HDS's advice. Anorexia is fucking ugly as sin on either a boy or a girl. I am not about fucking a guy or girl if he or she looks like I'd break her in half just trying to switch sexual positions!

In fact, I'm actually a bit of a chubby chaser, and I definitely go for big buff ones that look like they could break me in half!     :P

Were I gay I might actually fit that description... :)

That's quite unhealthy. Losing ten more pounds? that would be EXTREMELY unhealthy. Not to mention unattractive. Though I suppose she'll say something like "They don't even know what I look like" We don't need to, though. 5'3" should be somewhere in the region of 118 pounds or some such. My ex-wife weighed that much, she was 5'3" and she was HOT. 83 pounds....I weighed that much in the fourth grade.

Chardock, I hope you plan to provide me with a replacement HAB title...

Bah, when I was in basic, we had no less than three Drill Sergeants per platoon. More Drill Sgt.=More DISCPLINE! (The banner was provided by weemandando...he had it laying around so I snagged it up...I'll remove it if you so desire, however.)

Ah, no problem, the more the merrier as you say, but you have to hold them down while I kick them up the arse first. :D

My sister is 5'3" and weighs about 85. She's pretty skinny though, and couldn't lose any more weight unless she cut off a limb.

Tell the girl guys like it better when a girl has something to grab onto. Girls don't look hot if they look like they just got out of a concentration camp. Its unhealthy if a girls ribs are showing and she's not taking a very deep breath.

Edit: grammar

90 pounds and she wants to drop 10? Where the hell is she going to lose that weight from? Hell, she should be trying to gain at least 10 pounds. I know a chick who's about 5'2" and she's a bit over 100 pounds, and that's already at the lower limit of what I consider acceptable.

If she drops any more weight I'd have to start cracking jokes about breaking her hips during sex.

Ask her if she can do pushups (even the feeble girly kind where she fulcrums on her knees instead of her feet). If she can't, then she's too weak to consider losing any weight.

Pushups are too easy, see if she can do chinups. It's actually pretty sad that some of my male friends (and all my non-athlete girl friends) can't even do a single chinup while I can hang onto a 1/2" wide doorframe and do 10 chinups off that.

She definitely needs to gain some weight. Tell her that being THAT skinny simply isn't attractive.

Sweet Merciful CRAP!

OK, Here's the BMI as calculated by a company that makes money by telling you you're fat:

Slimfast.com

Her target weight is HALF my weight, and I'm only 4" taller.

This is not good, at all. When was the last time she menstruated?

You've got to be kidding! Let's see, I'm one year older, 7" taller, and I weigh twice as much as her target weight. Even when I was her height which was maybe 9-10 years ago I weighed a good 110-115 pounds, and I barely had breasts or hips back then! She's already stick-thin as it is and needs to gain at least 10 pounds, what is she thinking? :?

I'm sorry but the Kate Moss look is seriously unhealthy.

She needs to gain weight, not lose weight!

It sounds like she has an eating disorder at the least. The major concern would be her poor self image from which the disorder comes. Don't piss around trying to convince her of her problem. If she won't listen, then speak to someone in authority who can get her the help she may need.

You realize of course that the eating disorder mentality will prevent her from gathering any meaning from her reading our opinions of this. She'll probably dismiss it as either our jealousy or that we aren't doctors and we don't know the minimum healthy weight.

You want my advice, take her to a doctor who specializes in this kind of thing. That will at least set her straight about the medical risks of her condition.

Okay, who the fuck voted pretty healthy and a fine idea? Girls that believe they can carry this kind of weight need to be set straight, not encouraged.

Gotta be Lurkers. No Self Respecting 'Netter would have voted such nonsense.

Young woman, if you read this thread, please heed the words of the majority here. None of us are dumb, and many of us have been around the block a time or two, what you are doing to yourself is potentially dangerous and unhealthy. Trust me, you do not need to be super-skinny to be attractive, and at your weight, you are not even CLOSE to the vicinity of the region of overweight. Don't waste your life worrying about what other people think of how you look. I don't think you are doing this for yourself. (Forgive my presumptuousness) trust me, you are beautiful on the inside, and for most people, inner beauty (especially after age 24 or 25, when life gets REALLY fun!) is so much more important than physical beauty that it's not even funny.
