Jangle bells makes them crazy

An Austrian trade union has claimed the repetitive playing of Christmas Carols in department stores is nothing short of "psycho-terrorism" for salespeople.

From morning to night, for weeks before Christmas, there was the same Christmas music in department stores over and over again, said Gottfried Rieser of the Union of Private Employees.

"Many staff in the retail sector suffer psychologically from it. They get aggressions and aversions against Christmas music. On Christmas Eve with their families, they can't stand Silent Night or Jingle Bells any more," he said.

Damm Right.... I have been in Retail for 13 years.. and Fucking christmas music makes me hate the holidays...

And of course, if they even decide to play anything else in a cycle, customers would complain about them not playing Christmas music...

Today, on MTV Germany, they brought forth the ultimate weapon in Christmas music. "Last Christmas" by Wham.

I worked at a radio station during christmas '95 (105.5 WYTM-FM Fayetteville, TN Dan roberts, LIVE in the nighttime!) and on christmas eve, I played ZERO Christmas music. the morning of the 26th, I was called into the PD's office, where he proceeded to grill me about my content the night before, and he asked me why I didn't play anything but Teeny-bopper shit and (n-word here) music.

"Sir," I said, "Every radion station with a translator is saturating the 'waves with jingle bells and rockin' around the christmas tree. I thought that 'YTM would be a welcome respite from the repetativeness of it all."

didn't work though, I still got my ass reamed. Psh...

I did, once.
But it doesn't get replayed as often as Last Christmas, which increases the torture factor by quite a lot :)

The night after Thanksgiving someone left the work radio on whatever crappy station caries John Tesh and Delila. All night long they played Christmas music. Now, I generally like Christmas music but not so much so soon because I don't want to listen to that stuff for a whole month and a half.

Incidently, when I was in high school this one DJ played "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" for 24 hours straight. The next year he tried it and the radio station fired him.

Say, you didn't have seen or heard yet the TV Allstars with "Do They Know It's Christmas Time?"? With that on the airwaves I ENJOY listening to WHAM!

Thankfully I'm out of a job by the middle of November, that is up until this year. I'm not surprised that people go postal when they have to listen to fucking Christmas music for their entire 8-12 hour shifts, I would too if I had to put up with it. Thank god my current job ain't retail, and I get a cubicle to veg out in while listening to my own music.

The only thing that's worse is my buddy's first job. He worked at Wonderland which is an amusement park...in the kiddie section. It was non-stop Raffi and other kid music all day every day, he just about lost his mind.

Hooray! I too have been complaining about this for years. :D

Of course, this applies equally to really rubbish pop music (with special reference to Sk8r Boi) or [shudders] really rubbish Greek pop music that your boss leaves on all day because it reminds him of Greece and gets up anyone who tries to turn it off in a desperate attempt to save what is left of their sanity.

Ohh shit....I heard that and Feliz Navidad (I absolutely HATE that damn song!) The only decent song the did was when she did a duet with Andrea Bocelli called "The Prayer"...and only because Bocelli asctually has talent.
