Alrighty, we have quite a few SD.net members in Toronto it seems and Return of the King is opening up next week. So the question is who would be interested in meeting up to chill and watch the movie and when willl you all be available? All my exams are done by the time the movie opens so I'm free to go pretty much any time. Let me know how your plans work out and we'll go from there.

My family's super busy around Christmas time so it's gonna be hard for me to fit it in but I'll see what I can do. After Christmas doesn't work either since I'm off to training camp for a week.

My plans are not yet set. That's a pretty damned busy time of the year, as I'm sure we all know. I'll see what Rebecca says.

Well, we certainly won't be seeing it at the Uptown theatre, that's for sure.

Yeah, that theater kinda caved in and died yesterday. There goes one of the last old style theaters in Toronto, I was rather fond of the place.

Where'd all the Toronto area people go? The last time I checked I could've sworn there were something like 10 of us. The movie opens in 2 days and at this rate it looks like I'll have to beg one of my chick friends to go with me.

Sorry, it's just that there's a fuckload of things I have to do in the next couple of weeks, so I have to put off seeing ROTK for a while. I suspect it's the same for a lot of people; Christmas is a pretty bad rush.

We managed to have a Toronto mini-meet this afternoon with 4 people, me, my friend Sandy, aerius, and "the Beerman" (one of aerius' friends). I figured with everyone out hunting for bargains it would be easier to get seats at the theatre, we ended up watching RotK at an IMAX place out in the boonies of Woodbridge. We got there a good half hour ahead of time and the theatre was already half full with no good seats left, and it was up to me & Sandy to charm a guy out of his seat (he never had a chance ) so we could all sit together in a decent location. By the time the movie started every last seat was taken, even the ones in the front row where you crimp your neck looking up at the screen.

The movie was a visual treat as always, even though it wasn't in IMAX, they just showed it on an IMAX screen and the sound wasn't grating like it is in the local cineplex. The entire LotR series is just so different and special from anything in recent memory, there's just something so real about them, a life they have if you will. Just wow.

And then we went for dinner after the movie to reflect on it and catch up on things. We found out why aerius's buddy was nicknamed "the Beerman" and he entertained us with stories of his mis-adventures with alcohol and how he ended up wanting to pee on a police car. And then as usual the conversation ends up drifting to sex, and I end up with bad mental images again. Aerius and his buddy just play off each other on sex topics like you wouldn't believe (and Sandy wasn't helping matters either) and before I knew it I had a million mental images that I did not need. I did NOT need to know about dolphinsex and electric eel stimulation!

Good fun, I think poor muse will be mentally scarred for quite some time. Descriptions of how the food we were eating is used in fetish porn isn't a topic that's regularly discussed during dinner, and when we got to dolphinsex me & Beerman got kicked under the table by the girls. The Beerman took over my Canada Customs job so he knows all the sick stuff I do and more, and was more than willing to share his stories over a few beers. My buddy has the all the best drinking stories, that's why we call him the Beerman. Some people in the restaurant were looking at us funny when we left, I guess they heard more than they wanted to.

Anyways, nice movie, got cuddled & kissed by both girls, and had a ton of fun so it was a total success.

Proof-positive that ROTK is a great film to take girls to... and it has battles too. Yay.

The LotR trilogy is the best thing ever when it comes to movies to watch with girls. There's a "rightness" to these movies that makes it so worthwhile.

The nice thing about Orlando and Viggo as the big objects of female desire is that Legolas is obviously gay, while Aragorn appears to be hetero but has a high nasal voice, thus making your own voice sound deeper and richer by comparison

With Legolas, if you don't have a Beard to hold onto, he's just not interested. I'm still trying to work out why women like Viggo in the film - he's got long girlie hair, the worst attack of patchy stubble th worlds ever seen and the military sense of a starfleet officer. He didn't even have the best sword (Elven foot soldiers), the best uniform (Boromirs in Fellowship) nor the Best lines (Gimli). I just don't see what Liv... I mean women see in him.

Having gone 4 days without being able to shag the women around me I can only imagine your pain. And as I know that Sandra and Muse are both beautiful women it must really hurt.

She had a little scare thanks to a paperwork screwup in her visas & sponsor forms, but it's all sorted out and things are going good for her. She's had an amazing time over there so far but it's been hard at times for all of us, especially her family since they're really close. We're all running up pretty big phone bills these days. As for holidays & visits, we don't know, she might be able to work something out but it's hard to say.
