If 87 percent of boys in grades 4-12 have played this, then why the heck have I never even HEARD of it?Highlighting the game Manhunt, Walsh said it's been given an M for Mature audiences rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).
That means it's been deemed appropriate for players over 17. But according to the report card, 87 per cent of boys in grades four through 12 had played the game.

I've heard of and seen ads for it. It's made by Rockstar Games. There was even a thread on it here in C&G by Durran, I think.
Some games just slip under the personal radar.

Interesting, seems no different than any of the other hordes of articles we're seen. Except they've created a new buzzword, now it will resonate through this whole scene.
"Oh no, oh yeah, tell me how can it be so fair
That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"
- A.B. Original, Report to the Mist
"I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."
- George Carlin

That statistic must be taken completely out of context or outright wrong. 87 percent of boys grades 4-12 probably don't even play console games. And note that 'grade 4' boys implies 9- and 10-year-olds playing this game. Who buys it for them? Who supervises them?Nathan F wrote:If 87 percent of boys in grades 4-12 have played this, then why the heck have I never even HEARD of it?Highlighting the game Manhunt, Walsh said it's been given an M for Mature audiences rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

They mentioned this whole thing concerning violent games of ABC news, and the 87% figure they mentioned was of how many 4-12th grade males played M-rated games, not Manhunt in particular. Considering the last figure I heard for the percent of total people who played games was 60%, I wouldn't bee too surprised of 87% of most kids are playing the violent ones.Shadowhawk wrote:That statistic must be taken completely out of context or outright wrong. 87 percent of boys grades 4-12 probably don't even play console games. 87% of males from grades 4-12 eh? Kinda interesting when you think that kids in grades 11 and 12 are 17+ to begin with an have acces to the game. Maybe they should take a sample of how many kids in the same age group go to R rated movies.
