A laugh a day keeps the doctor away!

A man calls tech support to report that his computer is faulty.
Tech: "What's the problem?"
User: "There's smoke coming out of my power supply."
Tech: "You need a new power supply."
User: "No, I don't! I just need to change the startup files."
Tech: "Sir, the power supply is faulty. You'll need to replace it."
User: "No way! My friend says that changing my startup files will fix the problem! I need you to tell me how!"
Ten minutes later, User is still adamant so the frustrated tech gives up.
Tech: "I'm sorry, sir. We don't normally tell our customers this, but there's an undocumented DOS command that will fix your problem."
User: "I knew it!" Tech: "Just create a shortcut with this command line: 'C:\Windows\NoSmoke.exe /Y' and place it in your Startup folder." Ten minutes pass. User: "It didn't work. The power supply is still smoking."
Tech: "Wait. Are you running Windows XP?" User: "No. Windows ME."
Tech: "Oh, that's your problem. Windows ME doesn't come with NOSMOKE. Contact Microsoft's Tech Support and ask them for the patch. Then call me back at my extension to tell me know how it goes." An hour passes.
User: "I need a new power supply."
Tech: "How did you come to that conclusion?" User: "I called Microsoft and told him what you said and he started asking questions about the make of power supply."
Tech: "Really? Then what?"
User: "He says my power supply isn't compatible with 'NOSMOKE'!"

I may have heard this before, but it still makes me smile on the inside.
