I just discovered that with me wearing my wool hood that I use
for work to keep my head warm, I look almost exactly like
a fundie Islamic chick.

I bet he'll pull his Vault jumpsuit's neck over his head and act like a penguin, in the belief that they won't shoot him if they think he's a penguin.

Everyday on SDnet I learn something new.
Every other day on SDnet, I wish I could remove something I learned from my head.

Well, from a purely analytical pint of view crossdressing is rather irrational, as many items of clothing considered typically female (eg. corsets, high-heel shoes, long gowns) actually hamper the wearer's mobility. (except for the corsets, which merely are bad for the circulation)

While those critiques of the clothing are dead on target, they apply to anyone wearing them, not just cross-dressers.

Yep, but our culture doesn't encourage
men to wear corsets or stiletto heels. It's rather peculiar that while cultural evolution in the 20th century led to women starting to wear trousers
because they're more practical than dresses, a subculture among males start dressing stereotypically feminine for no apparent reason.

Well, there must be some reason behind it... whether or not it's a psychologically
healthy reason is debatable -- it certainly isn't a
practical reason, as you've already pointed out. The only item of clothing which remotely resembles anything feminine and still has practical use is the greatkilt, and the only real benefit that has is that you can piss or fuck without wasting time unzipping, unbelting, etc. Just reach, lift and go.

Leather gimp suits aint exactly practical to wear, but people still get off of wearing them. It's just generally kinky.
Those cross-dressers that do it for "equality", however, are weird. Men look retarded in women's clothes.

It's probably doing it cos it's taboo and going against some sort of grainThat and the sexual ambiguity of it all.

Two siggings in one thread, hasn't happened since trin v poppins. This at least deserves an honorable mention.
Perhaps something to add to the quotables list.

Most definately, but I'm to lazy to do it.
