I have a 30 gallon aquraium stocked with South American Black Convict Cichlids; they're breeding like friggin' jackrabbits and they fight all the time! So what do you have???

I had a goldfish when I was in 3rd grade, until the cat ate it. Swiped it right out of the bowl. And the bowl was sitting on the mantle!

I tired to mix gold fish and african cichlids once. Yikes! bad combo! The Africans being very aggresive and territorial attacked the poor gold fish to no end. The best 'combat' tank I had was when I mixed African and South American Cichlids. I'd just sit back, with a bag of pop corn and watch them fight! :)

No, I actually don't have any and I was thinking of putting some in.

Uhhh! Be careful which type of snail you decide on. With the right conditions they can multiply like crazy. The Golden Mystery snail sells for about a buck at a pet store; they do a good job of eating algae and other crap (they'll eat your plants too). They're not hermaphrodites and they don't breed like wildfire. They lay they're eggs above the water line and thus if they can't get out of water they can't lay eggs. I think this might be a good choice for you!

They are the larval form of the mexican salamander, axolotls. They eat meat, particular cardiac muscle. They are generally used as lab critters, as they can regenerate even their spinal cords.. fascinating. I keep him next to my computer desk. I'm working on a pack of foot long ones to set on azeron and darkstar

I have a bunch of incestuous cannibalistic guppies. The kind that are clear with bright blue stripes down the middle in the males, I forget the exact type.

Necronlord where did you get the salamander? Just a regular pet store? I haven't seen that type sold before.

I *had* three Aquariums, of 30, 20 and 15 gallons reespectively with Indian Gouramis, Siamese fighters, Peppered Corydoras, Bronze Corydoras, Dwarf Gouramis (I love them), Pearl Gouramis, Neon Tetras, a Sucking Loach, various Hatchetfish, Penguin Tetras...

... And my all-time favourite of fish:

The Black Phantom Tetra.

These guys are lovely. They are small, territorial, easy to keep and have the most elaborate challenge rituals for territorial disputes.

I'd really like a pet dolphin, but that's never gonna happen

That's about it for water creatures. Aside from dogs, no other creature seems to be as in tune with humans as dolphins are.

Sothis what about gorillas? I mean they can do sign language and everything. I would think that they are more in tune with humans than dolphins. At least, they are able to achieve a closer level of communication than dolphins.

I also used to have a Siamese fighting fish. That thing was cool.

Have you tried putting your Siamese fighting fish with another fish of the same type and watch them fight to the death!

I suppose you're right about gorillas, but I'd much rather swim with a dolphin than run about in the jungle with a gorilla that could shatter my skull with a single blow. :)

No, but I did put a gold fish with a convict cichlid. I took pity on the poor gold fish who had all the manouvering abilities of a delivery truck because the convict was taking bites out of his fins!

Sothis - Too much Congo man.

I used to have my fish fight other fish until the odds started to be too little to do any more. I didn't make enough to cover the risk.
