Weell, as many of you know, I am a senior in high school, and aboutthis time of year is college/scholarship aplication time.
Not only have I been accepted to NAU*not the bst biology program, but it is good) but half my tuition has been waivered.
I am a very happy ape-child. And of course, the biology and philosphy classes make me horny
I will probably start an atheist/agnostic/freethinker group on the camppus(seeing as none currently exists.)

One would assume...biology.

Like there aren't any specialist fields!

Technically, paleo is biology.

But given that he's said that they have a biology program, one would assume that he's majoring in biology. Which is what you asked, fucker.

Calm down, Dalton..
LR - he's majoring in biology. You don't really specialize, I think, until after your BS, and you're headed for your master's.
[EDIT] Many congrats, Aly!

I am going general biology for my BS. And minoring in Philosophy.
What I will specialize in for my masters, then Phd is yet to be determined. Maybe herpetology, or evolutionary biology.
Here is a quote from one of the astronomy proffesors, as relayed by one of my friends... On discussion of the moons formation
Student: "what about the God theory?"
Professor: "well, some people buy that"
hehehehehe
It is going to be a fun four years.

Holy Sweet Mother of Fuck!!! First of all, you can't immediately assume that by mentioning "biology AND philosophy" he meant GENERAL BIOLOGY. Biology is the study of life, and is as varied as science itself!
![Mad :x](./images/smilies/icon_mad.gif)
"I like their science programs!" Oh, that must mean I want to focus in Radiology! If you're so astute at reading between the lines you must also have realized I just wanted to know where his specific interests lie. Either curb your hostility sir, or at least tell me what I've done to warrant that hostility. My response to the thread subject hardly seems just cause!

There is no need for the hostility Dalton, and Raptor, he didnt mean anything by it. He was just being Dalton...

Congratulations, Aly, that's wonderful news! My brother is going to go to school for biology too--marine biology--and I think he's going to end up at Southampton College, since they gave him a big scholarship to go there. Yay for colleges giving out money!!

One of my best friends is going to the University of Tampa for marine biology.
We will be switching the dissected, flayed open and preserved fetal pig in a jar, and its brain(seperate from the body) year to year while in college

Eh, it's not as cracked up as it seems. It took me 3 years at an ACCELERATED pace to plow through all my goddamn pre-reqs before I could take any of the good stuff. Had to take all my humanity pre-reqs and my science pre-reqs to take the advanced courses means you have to take all the intro and basic courses such as genetics and molecular and cell, plus organic chemistry and biochem of course. Then you really just have to climb the ladder per class. I hear other universities you can jump around and some schools you can actually take ANATOMY while taking general biology. Fuck, we can't even take ochem until we've finished g. biology and chemistry and physics (can take physics concurrently). And we need biochem as a pre-req for anatomy, anatomy as a pre-req for physiology, they're going to make you take a biochem lab as a pre-req for physiology soon as well too.. and don't get me started about all the hoop-la's I had to do to take functional neuroanatomy.

Well my general biology requirement is met already, I can tell bio 181 and 182 to go fuck themselves.
And the biochem and organic chem as well as the celuar biology, well, I drool over those classes.

You mean AP credit? As a science major would those be accepted? Mine were thrown out the window and I need to petition to get those empty units removed :-\.
HA! Organic Chemistry is one of the WORST classes ever. Everything you need to learn can be summed up in a few pages.. the rest is essentially memorizing reagents.. lots of them.

AP credit is accepted at NAU. In fact, we follow their bio 181/182 classes almost exactly, and use the same books.
Organic chem, well, I need to learn it, so I will enjoy it!!!

Yeah, the Campbell books.. right? I think all AP Bio classes use it. If you don't have one, I would suggest that you pick yourself up a copy, spend the extra money. That book is one of the most complete books out there and will serve well as a good referance book until you learn those systems like the back of your hand.
Sorry if I seem somewhat hostile.. I am in the cynical stage of my edumakashon. Where I've seen hundreds (perhaps thousands) of students say the same thing, hell.. I've said them too.. "I have to learn it so I will love it." Then it becomes the most horrible thing we've ever done.
Look, I had to learn more stuff in one quarter of one of my neuro classes or even in anatomy than you will in a year of organic chemistry. But believe me when I tell you, it makes it seem like a trek through the goddamn sahara of boredom!

Yep, Biology 5th edition is the one. Such a great book.
I can very easily understand why you say these things, you have been there. However, I have aknack for making things that are boooring, at least tolerable.
We will see how it goes I suppose.
