It sounds like they're nothing more than mobile security cameras, and their application shouldn't prove too glorified than that. I wouldn't worry too much - until they start using plasma rifles and mass-producing 'infiltrator' units the human race will remain comfortably their masters.

One of the things I think makes the T-800 model so damn cool looking is the fact it's so scary visually. And frankly, Skynet didn't design the T-800 to look so, but instead for practical purposes(ie: synthetic flesh covering the metal skeleton). Thus, we have the combination of a machine that looks geniunely frightening, but you know that the machines that build it didn't give a fuck whether you're scared of it or not. It's just going to kill you, whether you shit your pants or not.
