We just had a magnitude 6.5 shaker here in California. THe epicenter was located 5 mile underground in San Simian. So far no damage has been reported.

CNN is reporting 3 dead and about 40,000 without power. There also seems to be some road damage and some buildings have collapsed or taken heavy damage.

I felt it up in Foster City, California. We are quite a way off from the epicenter but the entire city is built on fill. So no surprises that we felt it.
I did not feel the first half, then when I heard a bunch of people expressing surprise I noticed the cubicle walls where flexing. The normal sense of being on the ocean occured and then it was over.

Oddly enough, one of the techs was on the phone to a remote site, said we where getting an earthquake and like 10-20 seconds later it reached that person on the phone.

I wonder if anyone of you had ever seen the movie "Earthquake"?
There was shown what a REAL erthquake could do.
This today in California was only a small shaking, nothing more......

I'm in Pasadena (a bit northeast of Chicago). I had a dream where I was in a building and there was an earthquake. When I woke up Jackie was resetting the alarm clock.

Im not aware of any California SD.netters down near San Simeon. Howevever, two people did die today from falling debris. I hope this reminds everyone on the board, not take inventory of how much food/water/supplies you have on hand for a big disaster.

Right now, I dont have enough food. But I have enough water for 2 weeks.

I didn't feel a thing. I was in Cerritos when it happened, sleepy. Oh, so sleepy...

Felt nothing today, but where I work is quite solidly built. I asked my dad if he felt it, and he said "Oh, so that's what that shit was? Thought I was having a stroke."

Bad taste. A 6.5 Earthquake is no laughing matter.

It's doubtful that you'd feel a San Simeon quake in Reno, but it hit at 11:15 AM.

I hope Xanadu, er, I mean Heart Castle is all right; it's right in San Simeon. Has anyone heard anything 'bout that?

I heard it was fine. No damage. That was earlier in the day. I did hear Nevada felt the quake, but not what part.

Probably closer to Carson or Vegas, from what I gather on Mapquest. However, I think that being actually further west () than some cities in CA, it could have been possible to feel it here.

I love only 200 miles from the aepicenter, so I felt it. Felt like the last time I was drunk. At first I thought I was drunk, but then realized I had not been drinking. It has actually be a while since the last quake that I felt.

Most of the people in my building reported feeling dizzy. I felt the same sensation. It is a bit unnerving when the earth makes you dizzy.
