FineMolds TIE fighter model

Post by jegs2 »

Bought a TIE Fighter model when visiting Japan last year and am just now getting around to puting it together. Problem is that the instructions are in Japanese. Doesn't hamper the gluing together of parts since those are numbered, but I can't figure out the color scheme. Looked around online but was unable to find an English translation. I can't be the only fellow around here to have assembled and painted one of these, so someone probably broke the code on this. Moreover, we may have some Japanese members here who could tell me what colors are which on this fine model. Again, this is a FineMolds plastic model of a Sienar Fleet Systems TIE/Ln Space Superiority Starfighter at 1:72 scale.

According to HLJ, all you have to do is paint grey and black on the appropraite parts, and do a wash. :P

Here's the Hobby Link Japan page in question, with explainations if necessary. (though not the full instructions :( )

Interestingly they do have English translations of the X-wing instructions on its page. Maybe there's a paint guide on those.

I put it together and painted it yesterday, using the completed model we saw on the internet and the one on the box as a guide. It looks pretty good. Added the two included stormtrooper pieces to the stand as though they are standing guard at the base of the ship.

Nice. So are you planning on getting the Interceptor as well? Or maybe the X-wing?

I want them ALL! It's just that the budget I've got to work with means that those things that I really, REALLY want must come first.

It would be SO cool having a 1/72 TIE in amongst my WWI 1/72 models.....

Would like to get all Imperial ships -- the MF is really the only Rebel ship I ever wanted (have one that I put together about five years ago). The Interceptor would be nice, along with the TIE Bomber. Wouldn't mind branching into EU for a TIE Defender.

What I'd really like is the model behind this fellow, but I'll probably get that about the time I make the rank of general.

They have the TIE-Defender?

I've only gotten TIE and Interceptor, along with standard X-Wing....

Links not working, Geoshities with their usual stellar service. I'll try it again later.

Well Finemolds don't have them, but I'm sure some company out there must have one.

There was an Action Fleet model, though its hard to find now I believe.

Not as much fun as one you build yourself, but its the best there is just now, unless some small group have made some Resin Kits.
