I did, and then it was put up whilst I was away on vacation for two weeks.

I voted I came here after the board was up, but in reality I might've glanced at the main site a long time ago.

Yeah, I came in from a link to Mike's AoTC commentary and haven't left since.

About 3 or 4 years ago I stumbled across the site and was pretty interested in the subject. Read all of the hate mail, and about half of the rest of the site and then stopped. A long time later I was on the net and really bored, and suddenly it came to me to go back to the site and I found he had recently set up a forum so I joined to kill time.

I was not aware of the website before the board existed.

The polling is neck and neck with knowing about it for a long time, tied with the board bringing them here, and with the suprising challenger of banning my polling abilities still going strong...

Yeah, I visited alot, Poured over the DS Vs. Alderann calcs, turbolaser commentaries, and (Especially) HAtemail. I drooled at the thought of seeing new hatemail, I thouroughly enjoyed seeing Mike ripping a new asshole. Hatemail was far too rare, I Thought. I lost comp ability for about a year, then, when I got a new one, one of the first places I visited was SDN, and I promptly joined the forums, and the rest, as they say, is history.

What the man said. give or take 6 months to a year. That was the time I was bombarded by a group of Trekkies in college and went looking for facts.

I came here a few months before the board opened up. I was one of those guys who believed the navigational deflector story and such. I found this site and felt very disillusioned, yet I kept reading, I was a glutton for punishment. The forum opened up, I created an account, forgot about it, came back and created this one.

I first found the site in 1999, and have been a regular visitor ever since.

Never really gave SWvsST a second thought until I found Starcrossed linked on TGU, have been here ever since, although only posted for half of that.

I found SDnet back in 1998, I think, or early 1999. Mr. Wong kindly pointed me in the direction of ASVS.

The rest is history.

Shit yeah, Mike's science essays (especially his explanation on stress and why you can't scale things up) really helped me grasp second year solid mechanics!

I think I first visited SD.net in 2K.

It was a looong way back that I first stumbled into SD.net. Was quite amusing to read

A friend sent me the link over ICQ. I spent hours pouring over it on that first night, it was a joy to read.

I first discovered the site in the spring or summer of '99 and followed the fanfic Conquest like an addict. It became one of my favorite web-sites because it provided me with the facts necessary to refute the trek-supremacist rhetoric my friends used to spew at me.

Unfortunately in college, many, many times when I was supposed to be doing research or writing a paper at the library I ended up reading the sd.net articles instead.

i lurked around for a month or so befor i joined.

I came here once by accident a year or so before the board went up. It's very amazing that I came back a couple days after it just went up too.

I found a month this board after someone linked me to a list of the 1000 biggest forums in the net(no-spam forums of course ),
but I stumbled upon the main site before, about one year ago.
I found a link on a forum for the german Perry Rhodan SF-series.

In 2000 or so i was having a friendly debate with a connie fan-boy. Nice fella but he was arguing that the E-nil could vapourise a planet as easily as the death star. I got pissed off at his constant mouthing every time wqe went to a LAN party so i decided to do some research. Initially i was looking for pictures of a Star Destroyer and it's stats for a PowerPoint presentation i was putting togeather and i found here. Rather then go to any more trouble i e-mailed him a link to the turbolaser comentaries and he went from there. He doesn't speak of the Connie anymore.
