Could someone who knows what is going on explain it to me? I'm curious.

Well, let's see... Carol Hutchings is the producer of certain Star Wars RPG material.

Well, I'm stumped, and I've been pondering this for, oh.....minutes. :D

There's a person on that list that doesn't even know... :?

What gives, oh Sithy one?

I did not join on the first day, but rather the second or third, nor have I ever posted on ASVS. I actually did contribute some through PayPal, but in the end, getting that free B5 DVD actually resulted in a net gain on my part. So those three options seem unlikely.

A quick look at the Memberlist shows that's wrong. It's also not postcount, nor Location, occupation, nor owning SW Websites.

Do they all have an SW flight game (and scored highly in web published leagues)? Or perhaps all contributed via Paypal?

But you did contribute. However I don't think only that small number have given over the time of the Boards existance. Have you taken part ina a pet project of Mikes?

Random names you pulled out of your ass to confuse people?

People you wish you could be?

On the one hand you're lucky, as greg is on holiday - so no marine beating you to death.

However you can now look forward to waking up in the morning with a clusterbomb alarm clock courtesy of Wicked Pilot.

Okay, okay, it's people who sent me money for one reason or another, not including the people who donated for registrations (and no, I don't know if Carol Hutchings is the same one who's been associated with Star Wars RPG material in the past; I didn't ask).

The low number of contributors is not that surprising, since the Paypal link was originally added because we were having horrible server problems and it looked like I would have to pony up a lot of cash for a bigger server, but then Lord MJ stepped in, and that crisis was averted (that's one of the reasons I never added the button to the main Empire site). Since then, its primary function is for people who want to register with Hotmail accounts.

I was planning to append more to that thread for other categories, but not until after I'd seen whether anybody could guess :)

Holy shit. You put it up then? And that's the number of people that contributed??

There's no way so many people had the same browser fuck-up I have. They must have seen it when it went up, even taking out the number of people that are students, you still have a large number of users that could have contributed something (even if it were only $1).

How long did you have the appeal notice up for?

Try making my cheap bro let go of a dollar *yes even a dollar* to anything such as this and you will not have budge him. I don't have a paypal acc. to do it myself. I was helpless.:P ~Jason

Well now, I certainly feel like a cheap bastard although I suppose it would be worse if there were a lot of people who donated and I didn't. :?

Jason, you're a student, you aren't expected to donate. It's the guys that make the cash but didn't contribute I'm not happy at.

Not all of them could have mistakenly put Paypal.com in their host files with a 127 address.

were you active at the time, I know I was there when Mike had the problems with the old board, but was absent for the period covering the move to LordMJ's servers. So whenever the general appeal was made I missed it, and the Paypal link never showed on my browser until earlier this week, when Mike told me it's only purpose now was for E-mail authentification.

I was. At first I thought about donating even though at the time Mike mainly put it up in response to people being interesting in donating money but then I found out you have to have a PayPal account to use PayPal and since then I've been rather lazy about it since I don't have an account already.

So, I should change that to cheap lazy bastard.

Here's the follow-up announcement by David. I haven't found the original one.

Hhmm, that went up on the 19th, and a quick check of my posts shows I was gone from the evening of the 17th - the evening of the 27th... 10 days, you'd think Mikes post would have still been on the board at that point surely, unless he removed it - no sign of it in Search under "paypal" and Darth Wong or AdmiralKanos.

I sent you a check not all that long back. Didn't it show up or do you have to have contributed a certain amount? :P

I am a college student to and I sent cash (granted it wasn't a huge amount, but still....)
