Holy shit.

Superb film; excellent ending. I didn't know it was possible for Catholicism to be so sexy. I didn't know cool like that was possible.

And I like Flannery's work that much more now.

Awesome film isn't it?

The funniest part was when Rocco shot that cat, and asked "Is it dead?" while the thing was splattered all over the wall. And I'm an animal lover.

Needless to say, the cast was excellent. Even Ron Jeremy.

I saw it two days ago, bought it yesterday, and watched it again. I'm sure it will spend a lot of time in my DVD player in the coming months.

Yes, but he has a small role in the movie which he handles (no pun intended) well enough.

Bah. I like it when he comes back to the apartment after killing everyone at the restaurant.

"I killed your cat you druggie bitch -- I thought it'd bring closure to our relationship."

"I can't buy a box of smokes without running into nine guys you've fucked!"

It's a superb morality tale. I honestly still don't know what I think of the brothers' actions. If it was happening in real life, I know I wouldn't be losing any sleep over it. However, vigilatism isn't exactly a stable form of enforcement, either.

Aside from that, the movie has some of the most quotable lines ever. If you want to find a new friend at a party, just start quoting it and eventually someone else who's seen it will come up and say, "You and your fucking rope."

Fantastic movie.

Loved Il Duce...and the whole spectacle with him and the boys at the end.

That's the way Duffy wanted it, I think. He didn't want to give us his opinion on the Brothers and that be the end of it, he wanted us to decide for ourselves. A lesser movie would have had the Brothers kill a few innocents accidentally and used that as a basis for condemning their vigilantism, but not this one. They carry out their actions ethically, and would never even consider hurting an innocent.

My favorite line is from the deleted scenes (not that there aren't tons of great ones in the movie itself):

"How many lesbians does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Two - one to screw in the lightbulb, and one wee little lesbian to suck my fucking cock!"

For one who hasn't seen this movie, can someone please give me a brief synopsis? What's it about? Who's in it? What kind of film is it?

Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flanery, and Willem Dafoe star.

It's a Tarantino/Ritchie style film. It's about two Irish guys (devoutly Catholic) who kill two Russian mob soldiers in self defense, and afterwards realize that they've done a lot of good with their actions, and decide to take it to the next level. They take out the leadership of the Russian mob in Boston, and then with the help of their friend who worked as a package boy in the Italian mafia, start going after members of the Italian mafia as well. Willem Dafoe is the FBI agent on their trail. I don't want to give away any more, but it is a fucking awesome movie. Go see it.

You're forgetting that they feel they've been called by God to smite the evil.

I'm honestly surprised the movie survived the Hollywood movie-production process as intact plot-wise as it did. If I would have seen the script for the movie before production, I would fully expect it to have been turned into precisely that 'lesser movie' you just described. Hats off and a pint o' Guiness to Duffy for having the brass kohonas to keep the producers in line!

If you've got the DVD, go to the deleted scenes and watch the part with them and their mother. Funniest shit ever, and shouldn't have been cut.

A great movie that everyone should see, William Dafoe is great in it.

"This James Bond shit doesn't happen in real life!"

And a great line from the deleted scenes:
"Are you the huge guy?"
