those old Subarus last until the end of time.... or at least until they have 300,000 miles on the odo and the catalytic converters burst into flames.

I took care of that, though. No cat=no flames. Engine seems to like the lack of an O2 sensor, too. ~32 MPG not too shabby for a nearly 20-year-old car.

You don't have temporary tags? Ah, isn't red tape and bueracracy great?

the problem is i live in Rhode Isalnd and i bought the car in Massachusetts. Evidently there is some law in Mass. that does not allow dealers to give out temporary tags even if the buyer is from a state that allows them. On the plus side i can now drive 20 minutes to Massachusetts and buy booze on Sunday.

HAHAHA!!! I get 10 more mpg, and it's more fun to drive stick. But I'd galdely trade; I have no power anything (steering too), and no CD player (not even tape )

There are states where you can't buy booze on a Sunday? Haha. And you guys make fun of my state!

Col. Crackpot, congrats on a new car. I wish I had a 4 door Civic. After a while two-doors gets tiresome. Especially when you are going skiing.

Actually i thought that the liquor laws here had their roots in religious nonsense, but an Afro-American Studies professor at URI set me straight. At one point we were the anti-puritan state and booze flowed freely. Liqour sales were banned in RI in the 18th century to prevent people from getting piss drunk and protesting against the rich Yankee mill owners on their only day off.

back on topic, my wife has one too and it has 125,000 miles on it and still runs like a new car. Honda's are damn near indestructable. (although apparantly mine is Canadian-made so we shall see :P )

My 97' Civic has around 127K on it. Still running well. It needs a check up though. Just put new tires on for 200 bucks. Cant beat that. My friends BMW needs tires that are $250 each. Haha.

Nice looking car. I think I'm getting a car from my mom and dad for my birthday. Sad thing is my birthday was yesterday. It better be a car or I'm not gunna be happy. All they said was "We're working on your gift." All I got was a card.

That means they're building you a playhouse.

Bah! I prefer my trusty Daihatsu Charade.* It can fit sideways into parking spaces, is capable of reaching speeds of up to 140Km/h in favourable wind condtions and it has these cute little red racing stripes down the sides that make it go faster.

* No, really.

Well, this is basically how my current ride looks:

Image

Except that thanks to the previous owners, it has mag wheels and a gradient paint job, i.e. it goes from burgundy at top to black at the bottom.

Well, OK, the hatchback latch is also broken; the bolts tore loose, making it a royal pain in the ass to close it. It also has no sound system, because the previous owners were thoughtful enough to in-cautiously remove it. (They shorted out the instrument lights in the process.)

Nice ride. Can't beat Hondas.

(Btw, Wicked Pilot, I'd take your ride in an instant. It'd be great to fly. The freedom of the open road is one thing I live for, I can only imagine how it feels to have the whole open sky as your own.)

My ride. :)

Seriously though, congrats. I'm not exactly a big fan of hondas (mostly due to the local ricers), but if you like it then more power to ya. :)
