I caught this while I was on vacation in the Wall Street Journal (I beleive it was Jan 2 if someone want to look it up)
Remember that Focus on the Family poll on Gay Marriages that got linked here? Well the WSJ had a small blurb that said that the poll was "hijacked" and the results "skewed" but the results were still suppossed to be going to congress.
I feel proud for having been involved in that.

ahhhh, the joy of subverting the democratic process to serve our enlightened sensibilities instead of the will of the ignorant masses.

Being an informed voter in a poll open to all comers is subverting the democratic process?

Is there anything insisting that we're the ones that messed up the results? IIRC, hundreds of thousands of people voted in that poll, and there's only a few hundred active members here.

Last time I checked, voting once in a public poll, expressing my true views, does not fall under "subversion".
The results aren't "skewed", the results are perfectly representational of those who responded to it. It's God's fault if he didn't get the result he wanted.

how can a poll be hijacked by 400, 000 odd people :S

The gnomes did it. All of it. 400 000 gnomes is a rounding error to Gnome bookkeepers, the could easily do such a thing
And voting in an open poll isn't 'subverting the democratic process', we're telling them what some people think. They need to know that not all people are mindless idiots.

Sweet. Though I don't see how just this board could have borked the results enough to cause problems... I guess their intent to kill any chance of gay marriage really blew up in their face.

That's a misrepresentation of this board and total bullshit.
Mike should mail them a letter, stating we have x posters and had a very small if at all noticable effect on the poll and that maybe they shouldn't look for excuses for tolerance.

I think he's continuing what someone said earlier and probably doesn't know.

Ok, let me clarify:
SD was not mentioned, and I highly doubt we were the only group to do this.

Of course we weren't. At least one of the posters that mentioned it got it from another organised opposition site.
But I do agree that it wasn't 'hijacked' or 'skewed' in any way. Both 'sides' coudl use the same tactics.
