MOTHER OF FUCk!!!!!!!

I was coming home from college tonight,
when this tremendous blue flash lit up the
sky completely for a second, to be replaced
by complete utter darkness. around me.
'
I did some highly aggressive driving to get back
home as fast as I fucking could...because
the flash came from the direction of my house...
If any cop had pulled me over, I WOULDN'T HAVE
FUCKING STOPPED until I was at the house!

Yes, that would be a useful piece of information, not many things explode blue.

I think it was a transformer, that blew or something, but it lit the
entire HORIZON completely BLUE for a whole SECOND...

Scary as hell if it's coming from the direction of your house man...

Got a power substation close by? A major transformer would do it. Lucky thing you still seem to have power, the major ones can take days to replace and take down ten square miles.

At a rowing camp a few years ago we were packing up to go home when a storm decided to roll on in. Now, in Tasmania, the best rowing lake is Lake Barrington (we've hosted the World Championships there) and that is a hydro-electric dam created lake. As such there are rather large concentrations of powerlines etc nearby.

While standing around in a group holding graphite/carbon fibre oars to be loaded a bolt of lightning decided to impact a large transformer on the powerpole next to us. It exploded in a spectacular fashion with a nice flash of light, a lot of those funky sparks like you see in movies and a shitload of white smoke and blue sparks.

Needless to say we dropped our 10ft long improv lightning rods immediately and decided to sit back and watch the fireworks as we got more and more lightning strikes within a few hundred metres.

Oh and one more thing, thunder, at point blank range is fucking loud. Like louder than your standard 105mm howitzer barrage.

EEK! on the thunder. i probably woulda needed to change my pants if i had been in that situation...

as for the blue flash, yep, transformer, nothin's freakier than a transformer blowing up. last time i saw one let go was the snowstorm last year, tree over the lines, thing blew sky high, not once, but twice within 30 seconds it looked like 2 wierd explosions, i was about a mile from it behind trees and stuff and it lit up the sky like blue daylight, really freaky, really cool... freaky cause absolutely no sound...

i figured out it was the transformer cause the next day i walked out there and there was a service truck out there at the pole with a crane removing the slagged and charred remains of the trashcan thing at the top of the pole.

This one time in band camp....

Okay, we do not get much lighting here in the Bay Area. Usually only once or twice a year, it always makes the news. Last year a lightning bolt blew a transformer apart down the block from my house. I was skiing, so I missed it.

You have more than enough stories about your porn/sex/anal adventures. What else do you want to happen to you?

I have a sort of interesting anecdote. My school burned down. :P Nah, not really, but there was an electrical fire in the art room about two weeks ago. We got off from school for two days due to the cleaning. The day we came back, there were very disgusting, yet interesting, fumes from the ashes, paints, chemicals, and school food ( :P ) all over the place. On the plus side, no one got hurt. Everything in the school was completely clean. EVERYTHING. They cleaned inside the closets, the desks, the windows, the floors, the walls, etc. They even cleaned individual sheets of paper! I was amazed they got all of that done in only two days. And my math class got moved into a better room, because the art room was directly underneath it. They are testing it to make sure the floor is stable enough so that we won't fall through. LOL Not sure why it's taking so long, but I'm not complaining. We get to stay in this other superior room until Christmas! :D Sure, it cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars, but it sure was fun.

When my new high school was under construction, we had a combination of both fire and transformer explosion. A bulldozer knocked over a tree while backing up. The tree fell onto the existing schools transformers. Two of the three transformers exploded, and the tree burst into flames, which spread to the grass and several other trees.

This of course forced and evacuation of both the existing high school and the middle school, which was across the street. Both got power from the same transformers, so both had to cancel classes for the next two days while the burned out and melted transformers where replaced. Neither building had power.

These workers had several other screws up as well, including breaking both a major water main and a major sewer pipe, and getting six weeks behind schedule after eight weeks of work.

Which side of Philly? My unit drills in Folsom, just north of the 476 - 95 interchange.

Holy shit, so do I.

Anyway...

Last year a math teacher at my school pulled a starter pistol on a student. Caused quite a stir.

Ok. His name is Mr. Trabosh, and he's a rather laid-back joking teacher. Anyway, a bunch of girls were putting stickers on him. He got fed up, pulled a starter pistol out of his pocket, pointed it at one of the girls, and said somthing to the effect of "I'm going to kill this girl."

He did not really mean it; nevertheless, he was suspended for the rest of the school year, with pay. He was going to be fired, but most of the student body protested and he's back in school working this year. He's actually a very nice guy.

Joe: It happened the same year that vandalists caused 20K worth of damage to the school.

Was an interesting time, to say the least.
