You got it right finaly, they did not hand out alot of awards back during DOOM days but by the time Half-life rolled around it picked up so many awards its not even funny(Inculding Game of the Year, Game of the Decaded and Game of the Century, 20th Century that is and even Game of the Mallleinium from a few places who handed that out)
