NHL All-Stars Game

I had a chance to look over the starting line-up for the NHL All-Star Game (airs Feb. 11, IIRC), and here's all I have to say:

Alright, which one of you meatheads stuffed the ballot box, making a travesty of what the All-Star Game is [was] all about: good players!

Come on...Modano, Guerin and Turco first team all-stars? Are you guys nuts? Over Forsberg? Naslund? Sakic, Kariya, Hull, Datsyuk, Selanne, Tanguay, Hejduk, Weight, Demitra, Iginla, Palffy?!?! Give your heads a shake.

What the hell have these guys even done to warrant all-star votes? Hell, what has Dallas's entire team done to warrant a spot in the playoffs? I'm as biased as the next guy towards my home team, but even I draw the line to blatant homerism like this. Either Dallas has a very good PR team, or hockey fans are the most clueless of all sports.

It's the All-Dallas-Stars Game. Turco, Modano, and Guerin never should have made the All-Star Game. Period. Their team is floundering despite its enormous talent, and Modano and Guerin, in particular, have been ineffective all year (in part due to Modano's injury problems).

It's those damn hicks in the south I tell you, damn hicks who know nothing about hockey! Out of all the starters only Kovalchuk is in the top 10 in points, the rest of them are way down there. And what the hell, not a single Toronto player even though we're first in the league? This is what happens when hicktowns like Nashville & Atlanta get hockey teams, do they even have natural ice down there, does it even snow??!

Thing is, Turco, Modano, and Guerin all USED to be really good players. Easily worthy of All-Star spots, and at least Modano and Guerin were worthy of first-team. But this year they haven't developed. Baseball and the other sports also have this problem, with older players who used to be phenomenal players being selected while up-and-coming talent is ignored. This time, though, it's worse because there's clearly a huge discrepency between these players and the others, and many of the older players who kept up were passed over for these ineffective former-talents.

or Phoenix for that matter? has it ever snowed in Phoenix?

How about those Senators, despite being damn near bankrupt, they still put a damn good team on the ice.

They're always good in the regular season, but Toronto always kicks their asses in the playoffs. Problem with the Senators is they built their arena in the fucking boonies, it's not in the city of Ottawa, it's not even in the outskirts, it's on the far side of Kanata which a good 20-30 drive on the highway from downtown Ottawa. I remember the first time I drove into Ottawa for university. Farm fields, farm fields, forests, oh look! A movie theatre! Wait a minute, that's no theatre, that's a hockey arena! Then more fields, then some houses, and finally you see the city. That and they have too many wussy European players. That's why Toronto always kills them in the playoffs.
