Two days from now, I'll be at Lackland AFB. Tonight however, is pretty much the last chance I'll get to be online. I'll be back in 6 weeks or so... hopefully.

Keep your head up, but don't stick out. Basic Training (at least in the Army) is where you blend in and do the heck what you're told, when you're told to do it. Have fun too, for if AF Basic is anything like Army Basic, you'll never forget it!

Rogue Ice doesn't seem to want to use this avatar I suggested to him so you are welcome to use it when you get back.
Anyway, good luck.
Plan on getting very good at folding your clothes (it's a discipline and attention to detail thing).
I'd have to agree with jegs2's recomendation about not standing out. Most of the people who got special positions while I was in boot also ended up losing them. After that the company commanders knew who they were and paid a bit more attention to them. Now, if you are really good and don't screw up in a boot leadership role you can pick up an extra stripe coming out of boot (meritorious advancement, at least in Navy boot. It's the difference between E-1 & E-2 or maybe E-2 and E-3). Sometimes every little bit helps and any promotion means more pay.

Also, if you have any smart assed tendancies keep them as quiet as possible. Smart assed comments lead to many push-ups, running and other more unpleasant things.

About damned time you people got it right.
That's because I'm already an old salt. Really. With my one year of NROTC and all. Yep.
Or so I tell myself...

Nope, it's only six. Navy boot is, IIRC, nine. But the mighty USAF's basic training is only six weeks long.
Just think of it as being like summer camp.
And good thing I used that Preview button, or I would've posted it as six
months long instead. Twice that of the Marines.
THough with the Chair Force's tech schools, you never know.

You are a luckly bastard to go to Lackland during January and February. I went through during July and August and boy was that not fun. You should have a much cooler experience than I had. Do you know where you will be going next?
