Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the bowl!

I can't even describe the mass euphoria in Foxboro last night. my body hurts, my voice is gone and i'm feeling the after effects of one too many trips to ye olde beer shack. Seeing Ty Law get more of Peyton Manning's passes for more yards than Marvin Harrison made it all worth while. I'm a little dissapointed that Philly won't be around at the big dance, but all that much easier for the Pats, i suppose.

That Eagles game was about the sorriest excuse for a playoff game I've seen since my dolphins got assraped 60-something to 10 by J'ville. It was almost as if every eagles player was hung over, on verced and meditating for all but the last maybe.....half quarter. it was ridiculous. Their head coach needs to be shot for keeping McNabb in as long as he did. the man was obviously in pain, and being redered ineffectual as well. Best to have gotten koy in there to burn the carbon off the plugs so he's firing good after the half, (Not that their piece of shit recievers were helping much.) It was almost painful to watch that game, seriously, the Eagles were so not wanting that ring.

Carolina, OTOH, wanted to kill maim, assrape, pillage, destroy and steal to get it. they had that crazy look in their eye, you know? But they aren't going to beat the Pats. As a matter of fact, I would venture to say that the Pats will defeat them handily,

Prediction: 34-10 Patriots.

As an aside, I thouroughly enjoyed the pats/colts game. That was a good game to watch, they BOTH wanted the ring, they were playing with intensity, the colts just kept fucking up. C'est la vie, I shudder to think what RI is doing this night...

Two things sucked about the Colts-Pats game.

1. The Pats couldn't put them away by scoring a touchdown. In the last quarter the Colts still had a chance and that was a shame because they'd really gotten their asses kicked all day long.

2. Teddy Bruski got hurt near the end of the game. :(

RI posted his tirade in the other football thread. not a happy man.... understandably so.

I can't say that I'm surprised that the Iggles lost. They've been getting ground down the last few weeks and Carolina has been playing very well.

The Pats game would have been closer if the Refs had been watching and seen the pass interference/holding that happened on two plays in a row. If that had been called we could have had an over-time game in every step of the super-bowl.

Now, as much as I hate the Pats, and I will still never forgive them for that game I attended this year. But still, good job pats.

I wanted to mention tha tBLATANT pass interference cal that potentially could have won the game for the Colts. I think everyone here can agree that it was not only blatant, but the refs should be shot for not seeing/calling it. he was definately more than 5 yards out.

one man's pass interference is another's smashmouth football. And please, the refs were VERY lenient towards both teams. Had they cracked down too hard we would have an equal number of fans bitching about how they should let the players play.

It would have been alot closer if Indy didn't give up four interceptions. :P

and a fumble. and four sacks. and if they didn't kick the ball into the endzone and score 2 points against themselves.

I loved that one. The first time Hunter was on the field to kick the ball durring the post season, and he kicks it into his end zone for a safty.

Hahahhahhah.

It was a good kick.

Moving football in the cold and snow and he nailed a good line drive completely out of the endzone. That takes some skill. :D

Enjoy it, man. If they win, could you tell me what a championship parade is like? It's been TWENTY-ONE YEARS since we've had one.

And with a day to reflect on yesterday's horrible disaster, I've decided most of the blame falls on the recievers. Goddammit, I don't want to hear a bunch of bullshit about how Terrell Owens isn't an Andy Reid guy or he isn't a character guy or his touchdown celebrations or any other fucking shit this off season. I don't care if he eats babies when he scores touchdowns. This fucking team had better go after him or they're going to learn just how ugly the fans in this town can get.

Really, Twenty-One years?

::pulls out a calculator::

It's been twenty-three years since we've had a good team, and thirty-five since we've had a championship parade. And we've been the laughing stock of football for three decades. Really, your woes are nothing compared to the woes of a Jet's fan...

That's 21 years since we've had a championship parade for any of the FOUR major professional teams (Villanova won the NCAA men's basketball championship in 1985, but since the rest of the city doesn't like Villanova, it's sort of the forgotten championship). If you want to sing a sad song about football teams, the last time the Eagles won a championship was 1960, before the Super Bowl era. After that, the Eagles had 14 losing seasons between 1961 and 1977. We had a couple good years and Super Bowl trip in 1981, in which we got thrashed by the Raiders. After that, the team eroded, Dick Vermiel burned out, and we got six straight losing seasons. In the Buddy Ryan era, there was a flash of hope, but Buddy hired a bumbling idiot to be his offensive coordinator and never coached Randall Cunningham. The Gang Green defense obliterated teams in the regular season, but Randall inevitably choked in the playoffs. Buddy Ryan never won a playoff game. Then he was fired and cheapskate owner Norman Braman, a man who'd made you wish you had Bill Bidwell or Mike Brown as your owner. The Guy In France, as old Norm was known, promoted bumbling idiot Kotite to head coach--over defensive coordinator Jeff Fisher--and then dismantled Gang Green by pinching his pennies when it came time to re-sign free agents. The son of a bitch didn't even offer Reggie White a contract. The team coasted for a few years (they even won a few playoff games with the stars that were left from the Ryan years), until 1994 when the Birds started 7-2 and finished the season 0-7. Kotite was fired, and then for some inexplicable reason your team hired him, where he went 1-15 and the city of Philadelphia laughed and laughed and laughed. The Ray Rhodes era started out promising, with a good regular season and a 56-37 thumping of Detroit at the Vet in the wild card round, but quickly fell apart. In 1998, Rhodes' last year, the Birds went 3-13 and by all accounts were the worst organization in football, from the players to the front office to the stadium. Andy Reid comes in, drafts McNabb, and for a while it seems like we're on track for the Super Bowl. 3 straight NFC Championship game losses, and here we are.

So, please, tell me not of your suffering. The Eagles have had more losing seasons than your team has been in existence.

Has your team had hope? Has your team been competently coached/run, with good players most of the time? Has your team not had a coach leave the organization with a winning record untill the 21st century? Was the one competent (maybe two, but Weeb was a real idiot after he had a winning team) coach you had denied a super-bowl visit (in the one year we were good since 1969) because the 'Phins didn't drain their field properly, and then fired after leading the team to it's first Championship visit since 1969? And is your team competently coached right now?

The only pain your team has shared with us is the horror of horrors that was Dick Kotite, and even then that is tempered by your stealing Buddy Ryan from us...
