OK, we all have our annoying sounds that we absolutely hate. Mine would have to be the noise that is made when someone is typing on a keyboard, hitting the keys hard. I fricken can't stand it...

I would have to say a baby crying. It hurts so much.

Any kind of telephone ring annoys the hell out of me, but it's those stupid musical cellphone jingles that make me want to start hurting people.

The sound of fidjeting. You know. Clothes rubbing on a chair, knuckles cracking etc...

Chewing makes me want to smack the person and tell them to eat quieter- I always have ambient noise going (music, background noise at a restaurant) when eating with other people.

the sound of anything rubbing against that stuff school bags are made out of!!

Thats why i have a canvas bag... it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up *shudders*

I think people sliding their palsm or fingertips over metal makes a much mroe cringe-worthy sound, but doesn't everyone have a certain frequeency that produces a terrible sound for them- like how some poepl don't mind nails scraping down chalkboard?

I despise fire alarmish sounds.

I only hate the ringing of these old telephones. That with real bells in it.

Incidentally, our fire alarm goes off inexplicibly when the house gets too cold, so after two weeks of minus 20 weather, I'm getting real sick of that sound as well.

the sound of styrofoam grinding together. it utterly makes me cringe whenever i hear it. and i'm talking about the styrofoam that's used when packing boxes. not the foam pill things, but the sheets of styrofoam.

Nails on a chalkboard comes close, but more annoying is nails on the inside walls of my house, i guess it sa different material o_O.

girlfriends saying my name in a reproachfull way.

I get that sound a lot. Believe me, its much worse hearing it coming from yourself. I got pneumonia in 7th grade because I was dumb enough to go out collecting water samples in February for my science project when I already had a cold. (Won the science fair, though!) Have gotten pneumonia every February since except last year. (I hope that means its over. If not, I'm about due to hear my lungs start bubbling.)

I'm driven near mad at times by the ticking of wristwatches. I hate them all. I suppose some other things probably annoy me more, but they tend not to be constant.

Point. Conceded.

-Cellphones ringing. Especially if there those stupid ones that beep some song when they ring.

-Babies crying

-Styrfoam grinding together. It gives me goosebumps.

-Fire alarms and smoke detectors. They're loud and high-pitched, and especially aggrivating when it's just a false alarm or fire drill.

-Vaccum cleaners. Mainly for the loud and aggrivating sound they make.

Basically, it's sudden, loud, and high-pitched sounds that I hate.

The sickening sound of two cars crashing into each other. Its not a loud "crash" like you see in the movies, its more of a dull "crunch". I got smacked in the side by a guy who ran a stop sign going about 60, and the only thing I remember clearly is that horrible sound.

I think that would fall somewhere between "agonizing" and "torturous" than "annoying."

As to my thoughts on the world's most annoying sound... hmm... I'd have to say the voice of an idiot, because whenever you hear that sound, you just know that they're going to say something unbeleivablely stupid. Just consider this for a moment: debating scooter in person.

Believe it or not, I'm often greatly annoyed by the sound of my own eating, especially when I'm in a hurry and eating seems an unwelcome chore...

Obnoxious cell phone ringtones: 'Nuff Said. Worse, the owners of the offending cell always WAIT TEN SECONDS before picking it up! Next asshat who does that is gonna feel my baseball bat in his neck! I always keep my cell on vibrate unless I'm high (which is never in a public place) simply out of common courtesy.

What I call 'Reference Sounds' coming from the TV: Attention-grabbing things like a baby cry, telephone ring, door knock/bell, etc. We need a law banning such noises from being broadcast. And the fucking COMMERCIALS are getting into the act to get our attention too! HRAAUGH!!

Same Old Stock Sounds in TV programming: If I hear a cabinet open and it has the SAME creak noise I've heard a thousand times before, I'm gonna scream. Even worse is that stupid click noise on commercials with a mouse cursor on the screen. Instead of a nice quiet click like a mouse really makes, it always sounds like a plasticky 'KLUNK"! It doesn't help that I hate commercials with a mouse cursor on 'em anyway...
