That right there kills your reliability and consistency--comparing a conscript army forty years ago to the modern volunteer army.
yet the same comments are made about the modern proffetional army.
Do you even understand why an appeal to authority is a logical fallacy?
Of cource I do, but I was mearly pointing out that not everyone agreed with this guys genralisation, I was not seeking to get into debate over it.

You do know that not every thing can be neatly transcribed onto this site as proof positive of that this or that, is indeed someones proffetional opinion, nor can I go down to the corner store and get a battlaion each of NZ and american infantry and test them both properly to see if one is better at fighting my battalion of generic enemies of the day.

You can accept that people I know, who are serving offcer/NCO's, do not think that the US army is as well trained as it could be, or not, I dont give a damn either way. But not every thing can be nicly packaged and put here for you to pick at in a nice logical way. Some things you do have to accept at face value.

I am locking this, since we already have the other thread open, the easiest way to 'solve' this situation would be to look at past operations involving the armies and looking at who did what, where, when and how. Well anyway, therad locked ... oh and I get to post a pic now!
