I hate windows

Post by Guest »

I HATE BILL GATES!!!!. I WANT TO TEAR HIS LIMBS OFF. I WANT TO SLOWLY MUTILATE HIM WITH A CHAINSAW, THEN POUR HOT OIL ON THE WOUNDS. I WANT TO PUBLICLY HUMILIATEE HIM!!!

Damn I was downloading the peanut-linux (a mini distro) iso for about a month on a 26.6k connection(yes I know, my internet is crap). Yesterday it reached 703MB with 10 more to go, and windows crashes, taking the download with it. I so want to kill that guy, and jan debis, the guy who made the download program, who had the great idea of making the DL program overwrite files that were "corrupted" (I could have just hex edited the end of the file). Of course this wouldn't have happened if windows didn't crash. LeechFTP sucks.

Can anyone help me find any other good FTP program with a reliable download resume? Actually any download program without spyware would suffice.

Btw what is the estimated annual cost of microsoft software crashing, causing data lost

Btw this is my 100th post in about a month, ~3.3 posts a day.

Btw too bad Azeron isn't here since this is a computer related topic.

Oh, and do I sometimes make incoherent posts?

Oh and my email address is jhnphm@windows-sucks.com, lol

windows commander has allways served me fine. it can also show hidden files, which makes it easier to find the interesting stuff on uni servers for example.

Its fun to notice how dumb people get when they hate

For example he blaimed Windows because it crashed
EVEN THOUGH he was trying to download nearly a GIGABYTE of files on of all things... a 28.8!

Thats like blaming a car company cause you went through the Window and where not wearing your set-belt

Your main problem is not Windows

Your main problem is the fact your a bit of an idiot when it comes to Tecnology?

Do you take your Toaster to the Tub to make toast while you bath?
Do you not wear a seat-belt when you drive?
Do you ever stick your finger in a light-socket and are suprised when it hurts?
Have you ever run a computer with-out a surge protector?
Have you ever not saved after typing a docment for over ten mintues?
Have you ever tried to clean your computer with water?

If so you might just be a Tech idiot

Don't distress there is help avaible to the millions who suffer your condition!
I could tell you where to get help but do I look like Human Reasources?

Actually, in word there is an option to enable autosave to do this for you. You'll have to go into the tools menu somewhere's and then put a check in the autosave option.

Mind you, you first have to *enable* this feature first. No kidding either.

Oh, and as for trying to download a gig on a 28.8 connection, might I suggest getting it from a source with a faster connection?

I have'nt done any of those. Hey I just have an irrational (actually rational since I have another reason) hate of billg. I like blaming people and refuse to accept responsibility :P. Hey and bean the file had 10 megs to go before it crashed. And it crashed less then 30 minutes after a reboot. I hate the phone lines in Lorton. Of course you could say that I could have backed up the file. I'm not an idiot. I just refuse to accept responsibility. Maybe I should get VI title or lazy idiot title.

On a more serious note a real operating system like Linux or some other form of Unix would not crash nearly as much as windows does. Of course I can't run it if I can't get it. I hate Red Hat linux, since it is slow and my hardware sucks.

Oh and I have no tech literate friends to get stuff from :( . Actually I have very few friends period.

Congratulations, you're a five year old. Sure windows is an inferior product but for god's sake I'm amazed you got as far as you did. That's like expecting a 90 old woman to win a weightlifting competition with Arnold Schwazenager.

Oh and what about command line FTP, with the reget function, so I can automate in a scheduled batch file overnight? Are there any for windoze? Stupid winmodem.

Hey I was kidding (although lots of stuff I do is irrational, like having a religion).

Nice analogy for windows and unix

SmartFTP is one of the best--if not the best--Windows FTP clients out there. It's freeware and fully supports resume.

... who doesn't... if I had more time I would learn Lynix and be done with the whole microsoft monopoly... but 2000 does seem nice ( if I could find all the drivers for it!)

Lets say this together now friends.

Download Accelerator Pro!

No spyware. Just puts a banner ad in the download window, which can easily be blocked by any decent software firewall, or denying yourself access to the folder if you're lucky enough to be running NT/2K/XP.

While it doesn't increase the speed of your downloads (gotta love mis-leading names), it does give you the ability to resume w/o fuxoring your files. Depending on your connection, it will connect to the server multiple times and download the file in pieces. Lets say you set it to connect to the server 4 times. It'll connect, and download the file in chunks of 1/4. Once a connection reaches 1/4 of the full size, it'll stop. However, this usually happens at the same time so you won't really notice. It'll then assemble the file into one whole file, and ask you if you want to run it or not.

You can set up a batch file in Windows (if you have an NT-based OS, the language is more powerful) and have Windows schedule it if you want.

The fact of the matter is Mr. Gates makes faulty software, he'd be stupid not to. If we had the perfect Windows OS he'd get nore more business.

On the other hand don't blame Microsoft for having dodgy epuipement. I didn't even think 28.8 bbs connections still existed.

Gozilla is a spyware ridden piece of bloated filth but when I was on a modem connection it did the job very well. I downloaded a Linux distro on it at 4 k/s and it survived windows dieing after a day or two of downloading constantly.
