Passing On...

A couple of nights ago, my grandfather passed on. He died in his sleep after battling a fever brought on by a stroke. My sister made a quilt in his honor and has a page dedicated to him
here. The lower-right shot is of Papa with my sister in me around 1973. Papa lived to the age of 82. As per his wishes, we'll have no services for him, and as my parents were taking care of him in Ft. Lauderdale and I live on the opposite side of CONUS (with a very heavy work schedule), it would not be feasible for my wife and I to fly there.
James C. Folsom, or "Papa" as my sister and I called him, was a well-respected psychiatrist and a personal friend of the famous Dr. Karl Menninger, who signed one of his books for me long ago (which I lost over time). He also appeared on the
Donahue show years ago. Papa leaves behind two daughters (including my mother), and four grandchildren (including my sister and me).

It seems like he lived a full life and he looks like a happy man in those pictures. I'm really sorry for your loss.

That's harsh man, really. I'm very sorry to hear that. I know I can't say anything that would really make a difference... I really like the tribute and I think it's great to always honor loved ones who are no more. Draw comfort off of your family, and if you have anything to give, give it. The friends and family you have with you on Earth are your source of strength in times like this. You seem to have the right idea anyway.
My deepest and most sincere condolences.

Shit, that's hard. Terrible. Sorry..... I hate this shit. When I hear of someone talk about someone dying, it really makes me feel sad even though I don't know them. Sad thing, man. From how you talk about him, it sounds like he'll be missed. I won't bother visiting the site, it might be too sad for me.

I'm really sorry for your loss.
I must say, though, that it seems your family is taking it quite well. I hope that you can all remember the happiness that he brought you for years to come.

My sympathies. I well understand the loss of a grandfather. Mine died almost ten years ago, and there isn't a day I don't think about him, or use something he taught me.
Keep him alive in your heart, and he'll never truly be gone.
