Melbourne 'World's Top City' Suck it Sydney, Suck it Hard!

Melbourne rated as world's top city

Finally we are vindicated! For all of those that mock our cold and wet weather, we have been proven right!

Some choice quotes;
Often derided as Bleak City by Sydneysiders, Melbourne topped a survey of 130 cities, narrowly beating out the other four Australian capitals surveyed - because its weather rated the best.
"Melbourne pretty much top scored in everything," said survey co-editor Jon Copestake.

"But the difference between all the Australian cities is minimal. One thing Sydney had different to the other cities was a higher crime rate, and it's climate. It's level of humidity was worse than Melbourne's."
Melbourne received the perfect one in each category, including its unpredictable weather, to give it an overall score of one.
Well I think that puts the final nail in the coffin about why we Melbournites are so well adjusted ... vindicated righteousness! :P

You Sydneysiders may begin your furious hand waving now.

I thought Melbourne's status as Champion of the Universe would be as obvious as it is undeniable. Obviously, it's our tourism industry working overtime. They do good work:

Melbourne. We're "liveable."

Canberra. ZZZZzzzz.

Sydney. Fine, if you hate people.

Brisbane. Nice place to visit, hate to live there.

Adelaid. As a friend once said, "It's full of PRICKS!"

Perth. Where's that?

Hobart. See above.

(yeah, I'm joking. It's probably worthwhile to mention that. )

It's that place next to Freemantle. :)

Didn't they also do some thing with their lights when John Glenn flew by while orbiting the Earth?

Probably. I'm reminded of that Simpsons episode where the people of Australia joined hands and held candles to celebrate Monty Burns's birthday, and he didn't even turn his head to watch. :(

(do you know how hard it would be to get the people of Australia to do ANYTHING?)

Oh, I take back what I wrote of Brisbane. Silly me, I mistook it for parts of Queensland I've actually visited. Give me Cairns! (I bought my first SW book in Port Douglas - too bad it was book 1 of the BFC, and not something truly memorable)

In other news, Philadelphia doesn't care, largely due to the fact that it cannot read.

The only good thing about Newcastle is the train station, and only as they let me sleep in a waiting room after I missed my connection on the way back from an anime convention (Got there at 00:00, next train wasn't till 6:30 >_<).

When it comes to Brisbane, the Southside is the best side! Rox0rize! We have Lots of sun, river, 30 mins to the gold coast, hour to the sunshine coast - it doesn't get much better than that.

BTW, does melbourne have trams still?

Nothing but filthy Melbourneite propaganda. Melbourne sucks. Everything you have is inferior. Your appeal to popularity is transparent.

I hate your airport's inability to exist within 30km of your city. I also hate your Blue Signed expressways. If you want to make people pay to use a road, at least be honest and give them a way to throw coins into a bucket.

Finally, Trams are all well and good, but what about when I want to go into zone 2?

Having spent much time in each city, I hereby proclaim that Sydney is the better town.

Sydney has trams too, don't we?

Melbourne. The better city?

*crawls weakly back to computer after rolling around on the floor laughing absurdly hard*

Sorry. Melbourne = shoddy reflection of Sydney in every way. You have been and forever shall be second place.

Oh and for anyone not from Auz wondernig whats going on, Melbourn and Sydney have a long standing rivelry. Its like Springfield and Shelbyvile :) We put on the best Olympics ever, they put on the Commonwealth Games. They built a big stadium, we built the biggest in the Country e.t.c.
