How much does it cost to operate a site like this? It must be very draining energy/money-wise.

Around $40/month for the main website. The operating costs for the BBS are taken up by the very magnaminous Lord MJ, who lets me use his server to host it. If not for his assistance, I would use my home server for the BBS, as it requires fairly unfettered access to much more CPU power and memory resources than a typical shared hosting account would give me. I had briefly considered using a dedicated server, but that would cost more than $100/month.

It's not really that much. My monthly pornography budget is probably that high. And let's not even think about my monthly gasoline bill. Did I mention that my car has a V8 engine and a curb weight of 4400 lbs?

They don't technically need roads, they tend to make them.

Because there's no substitute for cubic inches. A large displacement V8 can do wonderful things, such as pulling strongly from below 2000 rpm all the way to redline without seeming to break a sweat. Just pure effortless power. Also, it's got to be about the most comfortable car for highway cruising, and it should be noted that the cops here use the Ford Crown Victoria which is the twin of the Mercury.

every OPP or RCMP car i have ever seen was a Chevrolet Impalla. And those silly bastards in Montreal drive Chevy Minivans *snicker*

Haven't paid attention to OPP or RCMP cars since I went to school in Ottawa so I'm not sure what they are. But every single Toronto Police cruiser's a Crown Vic except for some parking enforcement cars which are little shitbox Chevys or something like that. My cop buddy loves them since they have lots of power and you can run them over curbs and potholes without damaging the suspension.

Just to confirm, Chardok is correct. I drive a Mercury Grand Marquis, and it has the heavy-duty cop suspension option installed. I don't drive that far to work every day, but it's stop-and-go, and the car is ... somewhat thirsty

However, it is a great car for highway cruising, and I like seeing that big battering-ram hood in front of me. If I ever hit something, at least I know I have the consolation of knowing that I'm going to hit the bastard hard. In my previous car (also a Grand Marquis) I got into a four-car chain-reaction collision during rush hour once, and the sports car in front of me ... did not look too good afterwards

That sounds like the Grand Marquis looks no better even after a car crash. :P

[Elwood] Yep It's got cop shocks, cop breaks, cop motor cop transmission. Why, you don't like the new bluesmobile? [/Elwood]

Hey Mike have you heard about the new Mercury Maurader? It's basicly a Grand Marquis with all of the cop options (tranny, shocks etc) AND get this: a 4.6L 32-valve SUPERCHARGED V-8. They come in Black, black and black.

Americans and Canucks really are going to feel a painful shock when oil starts becoming a rarity.

May as well go the whole hog and get a gas turbine for the trucks instead. :o
