Question for those who understand employment

Post by Gandalf »

I applied for a job today, but there's a sentence I didn't understand.
Great incentives + comm. OTE $600+ pw.
Is anyone able to explain what that means?

Any help appreciated.

That's not a sentense.

Where was that?

I ain't sure what the OTE stands for though. It might be job specific.

On-Target Earnings. How much a salesman makes if he achieves his sales target.

What kind of job did you apply for? Did you just send in a resume blind?

I feel for you mate. I'm looking for a job myself, had an interview today.

Seems like there are no good jobs about where I am, or atleast none that seem appealling. I look in the paper and online and stuff and it seems like all the jobs are either for stripping or office-gofer-$9/hour-bitch ...

1 week update. I had thought my interview went well - but I havn't heard back jackshit and none of my referee's have been contacted. :(

I would have thought it polite to at least send a letter saying thank you for applying but we dont think you are suitable for the job blah blah blah.

Stupid rude world.

Of course not! That would take a letter or a phone call! YOU are supposed to put YOUR life on hold while waiting for THEM to make a call they aren't going to make. No looking for other jobs, you need to maintain your availability! You just have to sit around with your thumb up your ass wondering when the magic "not hired" cutoff point has been reached.

Ever called to follow-up on an ap or an interview? Now that's productive! </extreme sarcasm>

Unfortunately, LR, some places look at your following up as a reason not to hire you.. :?

Exactly. And then half of those are the ones that don't send anything out to let you know you're not hired. -coughDenny'scough-

Oh, indeed. And yet dear old Dad can't seem to grasp this concept. His head is stuck in the 1960s where whether you were hired or not was based on the firmness of your handshake.

Now he can finally get off my ass.
