I found this, and found it kind of funny.

Denmark for sale

So, anyone have $15 to spare for a nice little country in Northern Europe?
(Greenland and the Faroe Islands not included.)

How did eBay ever come into being? Surely such a concept is so fraught with stupid people it's nigh impossible to have made a single penny in the real world.

Ah yes, seller fraud. How lovely.

I say bid on it, and then when you don't get anything, sue them for the value of Denmark. That'll show 'em.

Ok, it's not really an auction. The seller is selling information on how to purchase Denmark. Essentially they're selling an ad. So there's no bidding on Denmark.

Still... it's foolish.

Actually, you quoted "Macbeth," which takes place in Scotland. The_Lumberjack quoted from the play that DOES take place in Denmark, "Hamlet."

Reminds me of the Duke from Huckleberry Finn, who tried to recite the "to be or not to be" soliloquy from memory and ended up with a nonsensical mishmash of various Hamlet and Macbeth quotes.

At fifteen dollars, and 43,094 square kilometers, it comes down to .0348 cents per square kilometer. And to think, we payed that much for one measly acre of Indian lands after the Treaty of Greenville.

Ebay does check on posted and items, just they don't have the man power needed to monitor and catch them all very quickly.

If you consider the sheer volume of commerce on that sight, the odd joke is going to get posted.

That would explain why Denmark is no longer available for sale.
