Separate forum for completed fanfics

Well it seems like the entire front page of the Fanfic forum is occupied by completed fanfics. I plan to create a separate forum in the System category "Completed Fanfiction" so that the main forum is not so crowded. Members would not be able to post in this forum. Whenever the next phpBB upgrade comes out, the forum will be incorporated into the main fanfic forum as a subforum. What are your thoughts on the issue?

P.S. Posts along the line of "Yeah, and make me the mod of it!!!!111!" will be deleted. :D

I think it's a great idea.

Why make it a forum? Just post them on the SD.net main page.

This is sort of what I had in mind when I mentioned a "Hall of Fame" type deal a while back.

So yep. I heartily support it.

I have suggested that to Mike, and he hasn't had the time lately. This has come up on and off in the mod forum for several months.

In that case I would be in favor of a (hopefully temporary) completed fanfics forum. Please change one 'no' vote to 'yes'. At least I think you have that power.

Yes. And make me mod of it. :D Sorry, I had to do it.

But seriously, its a good idea. How many completed fics are in there, anyway? I'm still not through Starcrossed. (Man, that thing's huge and I've had a window open just for reading it for the last four days. Congrats Stravo, love it.)

It seems we have 5 completed fanfics (5 stickyed, anyway). That's not really enough to warrant a whole new forum, IMO. However, I voted yes, because it'll give more people an incentive to clean their fanfics, and be easier for readers wanting to read the multitude of great stories that spring forth from SD.net's members (/blatent kissing-of-writer's-asses). :P

I can't change votes, just like I can't view your password. I'll see how this goes over the next several hours. If no one brings any serious reasons not to create a separate forum then I'll make it and move the threads before I go to sleep.

Boi, you is axin for a slap upside da heed.

And to answer your question, enough to be annoying. In fact there are quite a few stickies and announcements in this forum.

In addition, announcements like links to Dalton's archive and fanfic contests would be moved to that forum.

Son you mean a cleaned up fic section? Because none of the Stickeyed fics are completed.

Yep sorry, of course, they will eventually be completed. After moving the initial fanfics, I'd leave it up to the Fanfic foum manager to decide which fanfics are worthy of being in the new forum.

Now, somebody find me my fetish porn. I must see some 300 pound redheads milking cows with their toes. David commands it!

Yes, I think this would be a good idea - supported the idea last time it came around. :)

I don't really see the need for such a forum. All the completed fics are archived on daltonator.net anyway, right? And if people keep posting in the thread for a complete fic and keep it up at the first page it can just be locked.

1- Fewer stickies = good thing.
2- Cleaned up FF forum = good thing.

Stravo said that none of the stickied threads are done, so they would be unaffected by this. And we don't bother to "clean up" any of the other forums.

I know he said that none of them are done- but the entire first fold of the page is entirely stickies.

And actually, this forum's stickies were just cleaned up, as well.. It's just that instead of having a post with ten million (or seemingly so) links in it, it'd just be easier to sift through fanfics in another forum.

You might want to edit the contradictory title of your Original Fanfic Contest! announcement.

Do these include short stories as well? And will people be able to post reviews or will there be seperate critique threads on the main fanfic board?

We could make it a subforum of the Fanfics forum. I think it'd be a bit cleaner that way.

With the next patch for this particular BBS system, it is possible, but apparently the thing is a bitch to install and M. Wong does not feel like doing it. BTW, this thread has served its purpose and must be locked.
