The sd.net IRC channel and what might be done to increase traffic to it so it becomes a proper medium to talk through. . (i've been there before. It was a ghost town).

Yes, there is, I used to co-run it.
We tried scheduled chats, but noone shows up. It's too much of a bother for most people to download IRC, connect to a server, and do all that. If someone could be arsed to install the
jIRC appletsomewhere (I would if I had server space), it would be much easier to access, and more likely to be populated.
My old (very old) "Connecting to the SD.net IRC channel" guide
EDIT: Ignore what the guide says about... the Ban list/channel info... 'tis all very old.

I've been considering resurrecting the channel.

I used to... It just doesn't appeal to many people. AIM and such are more popular, and more... personal. Not everyone wants huge chats, it's mainly 1:1 stuff. *shrugs* I dunno, as I said in previous post, the jIRC applet would probably make things easy.

I NEED MY CHAT BOT!
...oh, wait, that's on my dead computer. damnit.
The chat is up and running, I'll figure out specifics later. Right now, just join. connect to
irc.wyldryde.net, channel #stardestroyer, and have fun!

Let's all try to keep to the same server to reduce lag problems.
I believe lockergnome.wyldryde.net is the server agreed upon during #stardestroyer's last active period.

*nods* When I get home, I'll update my guide to reflect this.
Right now, everyone just subsitute
irc.wyldryde.net with
lockergnome.wyldrde.net in your favorite IRC client, or, if you're following my guide, click on "lockergnome" (or maybe it's listed as lockergnome.wyldryde.net.... I dunno) under the list of servers under wyldryde. (as opposed to just clicking "random server")
