It's just Ranma 1/2. Ranma 1-half is nonsense.

I'm just bringing it to your attention because it's incorrect and that it looks retarded.

I know its 1/2 not 1-half but for some reason i find it easier to write 1-half. That's it, it's pure laziness on my part.

Wait a second... Ramna 1/2 and Ramna 1-half would be pronounced exactly the same way if spoken. What the hell is the big deal? Or is this another case of the rod up your ass poking you again?

Since when are "Ranma Half" and "Ranma One-half" pronounced the same?

Let me break it down for you.

Ranma 1-half ="RAN-ma ONE HALF"
Ranma 1/2 = "RAN-ma ONE HALF".

They don't sound to different to me. He's just spelling out the /2.

You mean there are people out there that actually call it "Ranma One-half"? :?

What do you call it? Ranma One Two? Ranma One and Two? I've never once heard it called anything other than Ranma One Half.

I've always called and heard it called "Ranma Half."

Wouldn't it technically be called "Ranma Half" as 1/2 is a half, not ONE and a half. Since half isn't a whole, it can't be considered one... or something. Ranma 1-half would look like 1 1/2. Wouldn't it?

Then you've got a funny way of reading fractions. If you saw the fraction "1/2" would you just say "half" or would you say "one half"? Clearly not the first, because that's not complete, since you aren't saying the numerator.

No it wouldn't. 1 1/2 would read "one AND one half".

I'm from the Midwest, okay? We do some things oddly. And to me, pronouncing "1/2" as just "half" makes sense, because that's just what it is: 1/2 is just half.

Besides, to me it sounds less awkward.

Thanks for clearing up my apparent confusion.

This needs split. You can just say "half" correctly, like "get me half a cup of milk", but not written in the form of a fraction or by itself. Then you are just missing part of it. "Ranma Half" makes little sense. If it was worded "Half of Ranma" then it's fine, but Ranma 1/2 is "Ranma One Half".

What do you call 2/4 (other than "half")?

Have a very nice day.

I was wondering when someone would say that. It's basically spelling out the figure of 1/2, or in this case, "two under one."

In practical terms, you can just call it half, but Nibunoichi is describing the mathematical figure/term of one half.

What I've always heard it called. I think the BBC did the same when they aired it.
