Getting dumped by six stations is hardly "off the air". And while I think Stern stopped being funny years ago, if Clear Channel wants to fuck themselves by dumping a highly rated show to appease the decency police, that's their business.

This isn't really her fault. This is the fault of screeching, overreacting morons and the media being the spineless whore.

Clear Channel sucks, but they're just trying to cover their ass. This is all about the fucking FCC.

Stations owned by Viacom, meaning the vast majority of the stations carrying him right now.

Mike Missanelli was an asshole on WIP AM. Glad to see moving to FM hasn't changed him.

And I prefer the Y-100 morning show myself. It's funnier and Preston and Steve don't go up my ass the way Missanelli does.

Stern is the only reason I even turn on the radio nowadays. Clear Channel cancelling him is a shame but luckily it won't effect the airing of his show in my city.

I've thought the same thing many times over the years. Then, like this morning, I'll tune into his show and wind up laughing non-stop for fifteen minutes. Today's incident was Stern playing a recording of Beth and him singing "Close to You" very, very drunk.

Besides, why is anyone surprised Clear Channel did this? After all, this is the same compan that banned the Dixie Chicks, no?

Clear Channel sucks sweaty donkey balls. All of the news lately about America has been fundies flexing their political muscles, and I'm fucking tired of it.

Turn off CNN for starters.

Howard has been very funny lately. Whenever they refer to a "gay" voice, Artie Lange immediately goes into his George Takei impression. A couple weeks ago, they were edited in some cities while playing a tape of potty training for two year olds!!!

Of course, context comes into it. Lange, in his Takei voice, said something like "my pee-pee hole would like to meet your poopy-hole." I understand he was reprimanded for that by the GM after they were off the air.

Its amazing that Stern's 10-15 year old bits wouldn't be allowed on the air NOW. Incredibly amazing.....

Yeah, that was good! The Mr. Skin "Anatomy Awards" was funny too.

These cunts are based in Texas. They've had a hair up their ass ever since Stern said the poor in Mexico would be eating Selina's corpse instead of burying it.

(Cue chicken clucking sounds)

And the same groups responsible for this bullshit are currently praising "The Passion", which Roger Ebert has described as the most violent film he has ever seen, and telling everyone to run out and see it.

But all that violence shows you how to love and be at peace with fellow man.

I've always rather disliked Stern, mainly for the fact that I find the sound of his voice to be very annoying.

Is the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission religious based, or just an uptight Canadian version of the FCC? They kicked Stern and Tom Leykis out of Canada altogether

The CRTC is the Canadian version of the FCC, and faces some of the same political pressure. But nobody's being "kicked out". Stern was dropped in Montreal after offending the French-canadians (they're the most thin-skinned people in the fucking world), and Q107 in Toronto dropped him because they wanted to go to a music-based morning show, not three hours of talk. And Leykis is being dropped by the Vancouver station because they're tired of having to edit his show to meet broadcast standards.

Remember that hate speech is illegal in Canada, and a lot of Stern's comments skirt around the edge of what might be classified as hate speech (note: the hate speech codes do not differentiate between serious and humourous comments). It's a policy with downsides and upsides. It makes Stern's brand of humour problematic on many occasions, but then again, we have no Fred Phelps in our country.
