So I was wondering something fellas. When you're talking to your partner, do you ever pull that shit where you say one thing and mean the exact opposite, like women do to unsuspecting boyfriends?

When I say something I mean it. Unless I am packing an entire speech into one sentence. "Happy valentines day" for example, contained everything I wanted to say to a certain someone, but couldnt....

No mind games here.
Infuriating bullshit, and a ticket to breakupsville, AFAIC.

Straight men do that as well, you hypocrite.

I don't mess with peoples heads on account of the fact that people have and do mess with my head regularly and i'd not visit that on.

Unless I'm intentionally being sarcastic, I am for the most part completely honest.

Unfortunately, I'm brutally honest. Which is bad, if you're
too honest to someone

Hypocrite would imply that I do it, which I don't. My faults are many and varied, but I've never answered "no" to a simple yes-no question and then gotten angry when Significant Other didn't realize I meant yes (to be perfectly honest, I HAVE said the opposite of what I mean at times because I wanted to avoid a fight or some other thing, but the idea then is for her not to know what I actually feel).

Sexist would be a better term; hypocrisy is claiming to posess traits or qualities one does not, which RedImp didn't do.

Fine, sorry.
Straight men do that as well, you generalising sexist.

I never claimed otherwise. And the men who do it should have their testicles wet sponged and hooked up to a car battery.
Come to think of it,
which straight men? I know we do all kinds of shit to drive women crazy, but which ones pull THAT particular stunt?

That's only with guys who are too in touch with their feminine side.

I'm pretty sure she's got at least one very specific answer for that question.

I don't believe in the practice of subjecting one's lover to rhetorical mind-games. They're useless, extremely disrespectful, and absolutely counterproductive to a good relationship because they inherently have a deceit/aggressive/ill-will component directed toward the unfortunate recipient of such abuse.
If anyone ever tried that bullshit on me, I'd immediately know they have no respect for me and I would also immediately let them know their disrespect is not appreciated. Doubly so since they didn't come out with their ill will toward me from the first.

No mind games, I don't like it when people do that stuff to me so I'm not going to do it to someone else, let alone my SO.

I resent that last one, any time i told a girl i loved her i meant it. but i hold my hands up to the top 2.

I have to agree with Pounder on "I love you." Every time I have said it, to anyone, is when I have meant it. If I didn't mean it, I wouldn't say it.

That doesn't seem to be what RI is getting at. It's not lies. It's lying and then getting mad at the other person for not knowing you're lying.

That's exactly it. Though I suppose if a guy was a total asshole, the first two would fall into that category. Still, it's not quite the same. The thing that drives me nuts, and every woman I've ever met does, is answer a question "no" when she means "yes",
expecting the man to realize what she means, and then getting mad when he instead takes her at face value. Lying about something bothering you to avoid a fight and then getting mad later because whatever it is is still bothering you isn't quite the same thing.

I'm honest to the point of making myself seem desperate/stupid/etc, then I'll say anything except what I mean.
Like when my last gf would stay over, I might ask if she wanted to stay over another night and she might ask "Do you want me to?" Now part of me would want to say either that "I wouldn't have asked if I didn't want you to." Or something along the lines of "oh dear god yes!" But usualy I'd just end up saying "If you want to."
Maybe I just didn't want her to know how much I liked her.
